Living in and around the NOLA area Geico is hard to beat. I shop around pretty frequently, and no one has been able to come close to their prices. Stay tuned next year when I add my 16 year old son to my policy

Just swapped from State Farm to Liberty Mutual last week. Moved everything there (house/cars/boat) and ended up saving $2500+/year. State Farm can GFT. Those bastards went up every 6 months like clockwork. I had one ticket on my record when we signed up with them and never got another one, yet they deemed it necessary to raise my rates every chance they got.

my neighbor just switched from all state to progressive last night. In doing so he found out that instead of his jeep (side car) that he had been paying to insure a car he got rid of 16 years ago. They have been fricking him hard.

I have progressive as well as a lot of people I know. None of them ever had a problem when it came to claims.

Geico will put the cheapest aftermarket parts on the planet on your vehicle and force the body shop to fix your vehicle as cheap as possible.

I had the opposite experience in 2010 although I wasn't at fault and had to use my Geico unisured motorist policy. All you have to do is demand OEM parts and they can't tell you where to get your vehicle fixed. No trustworthy body shop is going to do shoddy repairs just because the insurance company tells them to (which would be illegal in the first place) because they are on the hook for warranty repairs.

My experience with Geico
A little addition to that thread, I had been with Geico since I started driving in 1999 with zero accidents at fault or not. I never bothered to shop around because I knew they were cheapest...I've now learned cheaper is not better. It's a scary feeling when your insurance throws you under the bus.

Yea because randomly not paying claims and getting slapped with bad faith suits and judgements is a whole lot cheaper.

I recommend USAA
I used USAA years ago but Geico is so much cheaper it's a no-brainer.

f you're in/around BR, give Insurance Network of Louisiana a call. I was with Progressive for years, and State Farm before that. INL beat all prices by 20%.

you should have your agent shop around every time your policy(s) come up for renewal, just shaved almost two grand off mine this week, just for checking

I'm done with All-State. They've gone up every 6 month since I went with them in 2015. It was a little over 500 at first. Now its almost 800/6 months. Then if I pay in full, they discount it to 730. No accidents, no tickets.

Allstate is generally tough on auto rates...now just about every auto insurance carrier has been hit hard since late 2014 due to a host of reasons...cheap gas, more pricey cars fueled by a better economy, more on cars to fix(a bumper has cameras in it now, etc...), distracted drivers/texting...just about every carrier has been under water of late and so they do have statewide rate increases periodically. One can look at the fatality rate that is sky high now to see that there are issues going on out on the roads. Now they do have to justify their financials with the state insurance commission as in they can't just arbitrarily make these rate increases BUT over the course of time, most everything will rise in price, including property and casualty insurance. Inflation on car pricing aggravated by these other issues I noted are not favorable to stable rates. Compare it to health insurance and it pales however.

I'm not trying to be snarky by saying this but some of you have untenable expectations on pricing. Insurance, in particular auto insurance, is reactive to other market forces/outside influences and so they are not looking to raise rates just to pick on Joe Consumer but when they are fully underwater and in the red, they have to make adjustments. Hope this info helps!

I've needed Geico twice (once my fault and once not but other party was uninsured), and they were stellar both times. Zero issues.

I’ve been considering switching from SF to Geico for the last year. I think I will pull the trigger on today or tomorrow. Question, with Geico I will have to pay my first month upfront. SF just auto drafted on yesterday. If I cancel with SF, do they reimburse the prorated amount for this month? Or do I call and make it effective on a certain date?
