Just had an alarming experience with my insurance company

I was involved in a small accident earlier today. It was a situation where who was at fault was pretty cut and dry. The other guy got out and admitted it was his mistake, I told him no problem shite happens. Even if he hadn't admitted, the circumstances were such that who was at fault is not in question.
I call my insurance company to let them know, after speaking with the officer he calls his.
About an hour later my company(Geico) calls me to get a recorded statement so they can determine liability. I go through the whole story, and am expecting a giggle with a "yeah, the other driver is screwed"...instead my own insurance company tells me I am at fault and am liable for damages to both vehicles. I lost it, I was like WTF. I was floored and speechless. The geico rep then proceeds to lecture me about how I should have seen the other driver coming, I had plenty of time to stop, blah, blah, blah. Trust me, the scenario in which the accident occurred there was zero question the other guy was at fault. I tell the lady this is shocking to hear from my own company, she says I am so at fault we would lose the case if it went to arbitration. Wow.
30 minutes later the other guys insurance calls me to do the same thing, take a recorded statement to determine liability. 2 minutes later the rep from THE OTHER company tells me they accept full fault and 100% of the liability. She even lines me up with a rental.
I'm still at a loss for words.

Sounds like you need a new insurance company.

Describe your accident. It's hard to pick a side if we don't know what happened.

I'm going to need a diagram of the accident and pics of your sister before I can render judgement on fault.

Sounds like GEICO needs to adjust their hiring process.

Geico is the Walmart of auto insurance

So, there's your selling point right there...
Switch to that other insurance.

The other company admitted fault and accepted 100% liability 2 minutes into the phone call with zero hassle.

Um, tell your insuramce company to take a hike.
Then tell them other company is paying
Then tell them other company is paying

That's what you get for going with cheap shite insurance.

Was this your agent (Geico) or someone who just works in the agents office? Either way, it's time to have a sit down with them and ask them wtf?

It was the 800 number.
I will be having a sit-down with the insurance agent I worked with for my home owners.

I'm pretty sure the police report will trump whatever your dipshit rep says.
Upvoted, because I laugh at your pain.

Ok, so they don't have local offices? I don't know anything about them but that does sound pretty messed up on their part.
