Build a City on reclaimed swampland and have a Hurricane?

Well, people in the 18th century didn’t exactly have engineering degrees.

I'd pick Houston. Get to live in a much better run state with a better economy and world class energy.

Is it now with tweedle dee and dumb as gov and lt gov? Do you have any recognition about the CADs across the state and how they are about to be litigated til the cows come home due to their crookedness with grossly overcharging businesses and home owners properties? You know what happens in a state with no income tax and no other means to stay afloat other than grossly over inflating property values? I could go on. I don't live in LA or TX.

The canals can’t sustain this because the city of NO did not maintain the fricking pump systems that cost billions 15 years ago to install. Completely avoidable for a fraction of the cost but New Orleans gonna New Orleans. At least yall have fricking lights on the bridge for the Super Bowl…

Yes, Texas is the better run city and Houston is a better run city than NOLA by orders of magnitude. As I said in my post I wouldn't choose choose either bug they guy asked me to.choose specifically between the two.

New Orleans political leaders refuse to take phone calls and the Sewage and Water Board said that it is not their fault.

Lee Zurik is saying SWBNO is refusing to talk to the press. Did someone slip on a banana peel again and miss the pump switch?

And guess what, no one will be held accountable because the residents of that shite hole don’t care as long as their liberal feelings are massaged.

It sucks for the people who don’t vote for Democrats but you live in a city that has been Democrat controlled for 250 years. It won’t change until it no longer exists.

Why they haven't worked out the kinks of potential power outages and pumps going down is beyond me. WTF are they doing all year outside of hurricane season? Katrina was 19 years ago.

Geez how long does it take to install backup generators at pumping stations?

nah if they can just raise taxes a little more and get that federal grant then things will turn for the better. After that its smooth sailing.

Especially when only 28% of the city votes, too

I mean - they get what they don’t vote for, right?

The choice among the candidates was superb.

Same song and dance. I'm not surprised in the least. Stupid people, will always vote for stupid politicians, who then give cushy jobs to unqualified stupid acquaintances. I just heard someone point out on WWL that some back up generators are or have failed that power the pumps. Heard this before.

This is the biggest problem for the shittiest part of our state. It's a damn shame, but you're 100% correct.

None of that matters when the system doesn’t work because they haven’t been maintained in 10+ years. This is the NO S&WB. You think those motherfrickers going to work for their paycheck?
