Canada has significantly less Universities than the US (also significantly less people).
The major universities are on par with state schools. There is no Ivy League in Canada so no super high end universities. The University of Toronto is probably the best university in Canada or at least rates the highest. There is more of a divide between University and College. Universities are traditionally 4-year Bachelor and Research Institutes. Colleges are usually trade schools.
As far as major universities go (from West to east):
U Victoria
U BC
U Alberta
U Calgary
U Saskatchewan
U Manitoba
U Toronto
McMaster
U Ottawa
Waterloo
Western
Queens
Guelph
McGill
U Montreal
St FX
Dalhousie

This thread has made me incredibly thankful I was born and raised in a country where I can get way too emotionally invested/enraged/elated at the actions of 18-22 years olds and in a setting with near 100,000 other people at a time.

They would smoke most every other team in Canada, and they are 0-7, 0-5 in conference and have lost 30 games in a row.
However, they are very competitive in other sports.

American college sports are more profitable, but I know a few Canadians that take their football seriously. Have been a part of some competitions between US and Canada where Canadians won.

Actually, I think there are only a handful of countries outside of the US that has collegiate sports.
Japan might actually have American football teams.. But I know frisbee is big college sport in Japan.. Seriously.

No athletic schollies in gwn so athletics not as big. My son plays varsity lacrosse and they have access to academic scholarships other financial aid tutors etc. He will nvr make a dime off lax like most ncaa athletes. You go to uni for education and opportunties. Im a guelph and lsu grad ... not many of those
