Does it exist in the great white north like it does here? Do they have rankings, national championships, conferences, etc?

college athletics don't exist on almost any level like they do here in other countries.

Sorta, yes.
Not nearly as extensive as US college football, but they send players to the NFL occasionally. More often the CFL of course.

It does.
Their NCAA used to be called the Canadian Intervarsity Sport, now its called "U Sports," short for University Sports.
Their national championship is called the Vanier Cup.
Last year The University of Laval "Red and Gold" defeated the University of Calgary "Dinos" 31-26 for the championship.
It was Laval's third natty in five years.
Right now, a look at the standings: LINK
The Western Mustangs are 8-0 and lead the OUA.
Calgary is 7-0 and leading the Canada West Conference
Acadia and St. Mary's are atop the AUS, which is the crappy conference
the RESQ is going to come down to Laval and Montreal

McGill claims to be the Harvard of Canada, FWIW.

Im a big fan of trophies that rotate with the champion and have their name permanently engraved.
Also, they only have a top 10 poll. There are only about 30 teams. They have a 17 team playoff that works really well.
Four conferences.
Atlantic University Sport - top 3 make playoffs
Quebec Conference - top 4
Ontario Conference - top 6
Canada West - top 4
Each conference has a playoff at the end of the season, and the four conference playoff winners are seeded to two games.
The Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell Bowl.
The Uteck and Mitchell winners play for the national championship.

And they are 1-6 this season.
Here is the current Top 10
1. University of Montreal Carabins
2. Calgary Dinos
3. Laval Red and Gold
4. Western University Mustangs
5. McMaster University Marauders
6. University of British Columbia Thunderbirds
7. Laurier University Golden Hawks
8. Regina University Rams
9. Guleph University Gryphons
10. St. Mary's University Huskies
All 10 teams have secured a playoff berth. There are only 2 spots remaining.
The way the playoffs are set up, #2 Calgary would have to play #6 British Columbia in the quarterfinal, and #1 Montreal and #3 Laval would meet in the quarterfinal. #4 Western would have to get through #5 McMaster but #10 St. Mary's has an easy road to the Final Four.

I've never heard of McGill, I guess I assumed most Canadians came here for college.

The McGill Redmen. McGill University is the only non American member of the AAU, and is a member of the Global University Forum - the top 25 colleges in the world.
Hockey powerhouse. Football not so much.
