Canadian police have said at least 13 people are dead after a gunman went on a 12-hour shooting rampage across Nova Scotia in the worst act of mass murder the country has seen in 30 years.
A police officer was among the dead. Officials said the gunman, named as 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, had also died after shooting people in several locations across the province. They said they were still trying to establish a final death toll.
“Today is a devastating day for Nova Scotia (and therefore, the world) and it will remain etched in the minds of many for years to come,” commanding officer Lee Bergman of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said on Sunday evening.
Authorities said Wortman was driving what appeared to be a police car and was wearing a uniform but later reported he was at the wheel of a Chevrolet sports utility vehicle that had been modified to resemble a white RCMP vehicle – “one that he has basically made himself”, said Brian Sauvé, president of the National Police Federation. Police have said the suspect was not an employee or officer with the RCMP.

How does one go on a 12-hour long rampage without being stopped?

Trudeau probably didn’t want to offend the shooter until he was done

Yea, this. The other odd thing which is good is he only encountered enough people to kill 13 during that entire time?
Shitty situation. Nova Scotia is lovely.

The police probably had to make a detour to the station to get their weapons out of the safe

This is why I say just because a guy in a uniform tells you to comply doesn't mean you should if he is acting in a threatening manner.
Protect yourself first. You can always sort it out later as long as you survive.

It started on the north side of the Bay of Fundy, late on a Saturday night. After some shootings, dude set fire to at least two cars and to several buildings throughout the very small town. It's midnight Saturday night. Nobody even awakened the head man of the Province until the next morning.
No one knew how many were dead until Sunday daylight when people started checking around.
Dude had bought two police cars and was at least part of the time dressed in a uniform that looked police like, driving a police like car.
Today's early attention was for people to watch for a police car with a specific number. By that time they knew a fake was causing havoc.
This was a Sunday morning in maritime Canada. Not like walking in a bad neighborhood the night after payday.
They still aren't sure the total number of fatalities.
And it is a lovely part of the world.

If you ever feel uncomfortable when being pulled over, just call 911 and confirm that a legitimate cop is doing it.

Canada’s gun control laws

Where are the people who claim all the shootings in the US are CIA false flags? Does that mean this is real?

It's not like you can't own a gun in Canada. Or multiple guns. Or get guns on the black market that come from the US.

Are Canada's gun laws that different than the US? In what ways? No automatic weapons. What else?
