As it should be. Prisons and jail cells are counterproductive way to deal with social problems of addiction etc.

Good. Maybe JayZ can go that route. Then Beyonce will need someone to pick up the pieces.

If it's legal on the federal level there isn't a damn thing the necks can do to stop it on a state-by-state basis. Federal law trumps state law.

If it was legalized on a federal level they wouldn't outright legalize it, theyd just remove the criminal aspect of it. Notice the difference- i.e. one is stipulating that they won't punish you for having it, versus giving you permission to have it. The States would still be free to prohibit it or legalize it as they see fit. A great parallel is alcohol. States are free to raise or lower the age as they see fit- it's not a federal power.

The taxes generated would be astounding. It is a no brainer.

Legislating human behavior only creates more governmental intrusion on our daily lives and a black market, and the violence it produces.

I do not understand why this is such a big deal to people. Literally seems all people under 40 care about is dope ring legal. That stupid new millennial network only talks about weed and the selling of weed.

Sen. Francis Thompson, D-Delhi, denounced the measure.

“I am going to tell you, I don’t want my children, my grandchildren or my great grandchildren or anyone that comes after me taking marijuana,” said Thompson, a state lawmaker for four decades.

“I just don’t believe we ought to be headed this direction, with all the drug problems we have,” he said. “I have never in my life had someone ask me about legalizing marijuana.”

He's either out of touch with his constituents or just doesn't care to represent them. Despite Thompson spewing this reefer madness nonsense from the Senate floor, the measure passed the Senate today.

Canada's legislation to begin the process of legalizing and regulating marijuana will be introduced next spring, Health Minister Jane Philpott announced Wednesday at the United Nations.

You can tell by looking at her that this Philpott chick just wants to host a bad-arse hockey watch party without worrying about the Mounties busting in the door.

It is the biggest farce thrust upon the country.

Religion isn't the real reason, it is the easy way. Hemp is an amazing plant.

This is pure stupidity.

If decriminalization occurred, people would grow their own and no taxes would be generated.
