I had a diluted sample for a pre-employment screening after drinking a lot of water the day of making sure I needed to go, went back the next day, took it again and passed.
No problem. I also don't do drugs, so there's that.

You saying that is bullshite? This was back in the 80's. I know it worked. It got you a pass and you just hoped you didn't get "randomly" pulled for 2 in a row. I know it probably doesn't work anymore, or even if it did, these days they'd call you back in immediately for a re-test. Things change.

I used to get the results of quarterly random tests at my last job. They would let us know that X passed the test but the sample was diluted. It was then up to us whether X would have to retake the test or not. If it was an otherwise good employee who did their job they wouldn't have to retake it, a shitty employee would be sent back

I had to pee for my job and I normally drink a shite ton of water a day. I had already drank about 32 oz of water that morning before I was told I had to go pee. Took my test and was told it was too diluted that I had to rested. They locked me in an enclosed room till I had to pee again.

In my organization diluted means positive. He gone.

Diluted/ tampered drug testing is almost always immediate term. I had 1 guy drink a shot of bleach to pass his test. Didn’t go the way he thought it would.

That's an instafail in my world and getting hired anywhere after that kind of mark would be difficult. The piss gatherers remind us every time that we have to be able to fill the cup above the line for a valid test, but to be aware that drinking too much water too fast to get above the line may result in a diluted failure.
I once thought I had enough to get the job done, but just barely missed the line. The piss gatherer told me I could go out in the lobby and drink water until I could fill the cup, but if I left or gave a diluted sample, I'd be considered to fail. Sitting in that lobby trying to decide if I had enough on board to get the job done or if I needed another shot of water sucked.

Pretty sure that’s considered tampering in a few industries. In my line of work, not only would you ultimately be terminated, but you would lose your ability to make a living in that field (after proper chain of events protocol.)

It depends on the company if they let you retake it or not. I do know a DOT has to be submitted to the Coast Guard if you fail and they will strip whatever endorsements you have for a certain period of time.

They will ask you to immediately return for a 2nd drug screen once those results come back diluted.

Hell yeah!!! Any drug test lab deems "tampered with" is rejected.
I beat drug test for years... I don't understand how people are so ignorant. If someone actually watches, that's tough. But hell, there are products made for that! Google "Whizzanator"
