My first 5 trucks had sticks and if they still offered them I’d get another one.

38 and I’ve owned multiple vehicles with manual transmissions. I bought a 2020 Tacoma last year mainly because it had a 6 speed manual that I could teach my boys to drive when they get older.
86 Jeep Comanche pickup with 5 speed
99 Mazda B2500 with 5 speed
03 Ford F-150 with 5 speed
20 Toyota Tacoma with 6 speed

Please tell me you're looking at used jeeps for your daughter's fist vehicle.

Yes. My dad made me learn to drive in a standard.

Yes. I prefer a manual. First car I ever owned I drove off the lot not knowing how to drive one. Are you saying a female will have a harder time learning?

My car is a manual. I learned how to drive on a manual too. That’s all my parents owned. I’m 39 for reference.

Id pay extra to have one in my truck.
You could get a dodge diesel with a 6 speed up until 2018. Really pisses me off that I didn't get one then when I had the chance.

Yep - my grandfather taught me to drive his truck when I was 12 years old. And like a previous poster said, it’s like riding a bicycle. Once you learn, you never forget.

I don’t think I’ve ever been without at least one vehicle with a stanadard. From first car back in the 80s until now
when I found out my wife already knew how to drive a standard I married her

I learned to drive on a manual transmission but haven't had to do it much since then.
I'm sure I'd be rusty, but would get back in hang of it easy enough.

Yes. Cut my teeth on a 72 Toyota Land Cruiser.

My 71 Bronco, subtle brag, has a 3 on the tree.
My first 3 trucks were all on the floor, then automatic since 2002
Finally drive a 5 speed last year and it was very odd. But never forgot how to ....

Yes
My father bought me a nice pre owner truck while I was in the Army and had to learn.
Friends took me to a huge parking lot off base and it took a week of continuous practice after work.

Everyone should learn how to drive a stick. A lot of people enjoy driving with a standard transmission.
A girl borrowed my Model A truck for a homecoming parade. Neither she nor her Dad knew how to drive a stick shift (and it is not a synchronized shifting system so you have to double clutch on occasion if you are moving). We went to the small local airport and I gave them lessons.
Model A's are good starter cars/trucks for learning how to shift, even though they are not synched. Shift from 1 to 2 once you start moving, hit 3rd at about 15 mph.

Approximately half the cars I've had have been manual. And the other half I wish had been manual. This is over 30 years of driving.
My car has a stick, but they've dropped it since. The truck I have doesn't offer it in the trim I wanted it in.
When it comes to vehicles, I value simplicity. I had a stripper Mitsu Eclipse in 1992. The only car I ever had without power steering, and you know what? I loved it.
Even when models are still offered with it they're almost impossible to find.
Automatic transmissions irritate me.
Thankfully most motorcycles still come with manual, but they're pussifying those too now with auto's/dct etc.
I guess one day we'll bemoan the fact that we don't steer our cars manually anymore.
Manuals I've had
80s Ford Ranger
Early 90s Mitsubishi Eclipse
Mid 90s Tacoma
Late 90s F150
Early 2000s corolla
Recently a Mazda 6.
Could be my last. Sad.

Never owned one, but I can get around on one. I may not be the smoothest but I can get where I need to go. I would occasionally drive a Dodge 2500 that one of our contractors had and it was surprisingly easy to drive. Clutch was heavy but you could pretty much let off of it without having to touch the gas when it was in reverse. Made backing up a trailer a lot easier than expected.

I'm 35 and my parents wouldnt let us get our license until we could drive manual. We always had a manual transmission car at the house so it was kind of a just in case thing. However, at one point my dad, me and my 2 brothers all had manuals. Sucks that they are getting harder to find these days.
