If you posted as much as he did you’d be that guy.

but we don't have a say in it. Our electoral college votes are decided with or without your vote.

The problem with politics is it tends to overlap with much of the topical stuff that naturally pops up on OT discussions which is why people care about politics in the first place.
Sports is just sports 99% of the time. You watch a game, the game is over and after that it doesn't relate to anything else.

I draw a distinction between discussing subjects that can be political and discussing political parties/politicians. One might be tangentially political while the other is inherently political.

But if you bring up crime in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, there usually is a name attached to, well shite went down hill with them.
Like I can say with confidence electing Jason Williams in new orleans was bad for keeping criminals off the streets.

But it's a continuum, not a binary. Bringing up the elected DA on the subject of crime has a very close nexus. Lobbing insults at one's disfavored political party anytime the subject of, say, current housing prices comes up is a bit much, in my opinion.

I would argue that more people have a problem with political extremism rather than just politics as a whole. Unfortunately a very vocal minority are extreme in their opinion.

I don't disagree with you. I have a Political Science degree and actually love discussing politics, at least in a vacuum. But at this point I try to avoid doing so as much as possible, as the "discussion" is usually just going to be a regurgitation of what the person's favorite talking head has said on the subject. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze anymore.

Remember when the migrant caravan was coming through Mexico? Most of the posts there were talking about how the best option was to just have the national guard open fire when they approached the border. A guy said maybe we can just not let them in and not kill all of them. He was called a snowflake/liberal/cuck etc.

So you went to PT, saw a few off the wall posts and assumed everyone there is like that. Its an anonymous message board. Many of the posters are there just trolling. That said, im glad you have your safe space here on OT board
