How else is that supposed to read other than the moment that a cop stops you at a checkpoint that you are determined guilty?
Multiple people are stopped at checkpoints, sometimes hundreds, with a minimal number of arrests.

Because that's what it is. If you go through a checkpoint, you are guilty of driving under the influence. They can search your vehicle with no warrant, sieze your assets, jail you, forcibly remove your blood, and send you before a judge even if you have committed no crime.
Again, the odds are very low unless you are in fact driving under the influence or have drugs, etc in plain sight of the officer through the glass.
The search is conducted after reasonable suspicion has been established or incidental to arrest.
Items (cash) can be seized but is not forfeited until determined by a judge.
You can be jailed when arrested. Many simple DWI can be released with a summons dependent on you BAC being low.
Yes they can forcibly take your blood after a judge signs a search warrant.
Remember to read the statement when you sign to get your drivers license, cuz you agreed to submit to testing as a condition of getting your license. Driving is a privilege not a right.
You go before the judge to set bail after being accused / arrested for a crime. A judge or jury determines innocence or guilt, not the cop on scene.

If you go through a DUI checkpoint and the police decide that they are going to test you, you are automatically guilty. That is a fact.
That is NOT a fact as most people pass thru checkpoints and continue on their way.

That is reality, not your generalized broad brushed statements with no merit. But you do you. You can continue to say it, but you ain’t right in your facts.

I have had family members killed by a drunk driver. Almost 13k people are killed every year by drunk drivers and another 10k are serially injured. There wouldn’t be a need for checkpoints if assholes didn’t drink and drive.

There were 722 people killed by mass shootings in 2023.

So it's a numbers thing.

Okay, so 722 people isn't enough to throw out 2A, but 13,000 is enough to throw out 4A.

You believe that when a certain number of people die, that right should be infringed.

Okay, thousands of people kill themselves every year because someone said something mean to them.

So you think it's okay to throw out 1A for that?

You're not an American.

Can anyone explain why folks like you don't like them? I criticize cops every chance I get, but I'm tired of idiots like you staring at your cell phone and/or driving drunk/stoned while driving recklessly. The more DUIs and speeding tickets we hand out, the better. The higher the fine, the better.

Odds should be zero.

Only because police decided not to charge them.

If police want to jail you, they will jail you, no matter what. You are guilty if the cop decides you are guilty, and you have to go to court to try and convince a judge that you didn't do what you didn't do.

It’s been held that driving a car is a privilege and not a right.

Because it's a money grab. It's not about safety.

Intervention programs to remove that DUI off of your record net millions of dollars for small courts every year.

If it was about safety, they'd go twice as hard at texting and driving, because that is exponentially more dangerous.

ETA: I think that should be a thing.

Mandatory government installed gps trackers on every personal vehicle. You get to a checkpoint, they pull the tracker data and inspect your phone to see if you've used it since your vehicle has been moving. If they find that you have, year long suspension of your drivers license, a night in jail, and a $2500 fine.

Most states have laws against phone usage and driving now., with very high fines.

We still have over 10k alcohol related fatal crashes in the USA. Highest of any single reason.

It's mind boggling that people don't think drinking and driving is a big deal.

Luckily alcohol trends in youth have witnessed it first hand and they are not drinking near as often.

So you don't want checkpoints but you want a GPS tracker, which we essentially have, though you want one that local cops can access, which is even more inherently unconstitutional than your premise.

Because you want to focus on texting (which is a problem) instead of drunk drivers, using the same method.

Cars are driven and can cause horrific crashes. Houses aren't driven. Appears you don't know that. Got any other 3 year old responses?

I didn’t get a DUI my wife drove through the check point but it got me to thinking (while I sat in the passenger seat buzzed from my weed pen) how something like that could be legal? Had no idea it’s already been through the courts. Thanks for everyone’s input!
