We all know that tourism is NOLA main economic engine. However, I'm starting to wonder will the Jan 1st attack be more damaging to NOLA than we realize. I know for myself, I have no intentions of going to NOLA anytime soon. And NOLA has always been one of my favorite cities IN THE WORLD when it comes to architecture, culture, and food and I'm well traveled. I no longer feel comfortable with the crime response from the city and the bad DEI police chief hire.

I posted something a few months ago about NOLA real estate struggling, Jan 1st wont help. And the city had great momentum with the infrastructure improvements being made before the Super Bowl and LaToya the destroyer finally leaving office. I guess the Super Bowl will be a litmus test of what NOLA will be like in the near future

Not to be crass, but people have been getting killed in New Orleans way before the terrorist attack and it hasn't stopped tourism yet

It will quickly be back to normal for the most part, whatever normal means in this context.

the bad DEI police chief hire.

I don't know anything about anything, but by all accounts (from both sides of the aisle) she's highly qualified and is doing a really great job in the short time she's been here. Her biggest drawback is having to deal with the incompetence of the rest of New Orleans leadership (both genuine incompetence and weaponized incompetence),

I’ll be in NOLA this weekend. Will be back in February. Sorry I’ll miss you.

Actually, not sorry.

I initially thought that the economy would take a hit. However, I've heard people say that they really want to come support the city now more than ever.

I think the impact really remains to be seen. The terror attack is such an isolated incident that could happen anywhere. The city really needs to address alot of other problems, but seems to motor through the consistent problems anyway.

I never wanted to be downtown before. The terror attack didn't really change how I feel one way or the other, except I do kind of want to make one day trip down to pay my respects.

New Orleans is probably the safest it has been in 30 years with all the feds and extra law enforcement presence in the city.

I spent a good bit of time in New Orleans over the summer and fall related to conferences and projects, and it seemed like downtown looked better than it has since Covid. The people from out of town had a great time. The return of State Police is helpful.

Yes. It's the only place on earth where people get blackout drunk on Tuesdays. The culture!

I would party on Bourbon tonight if the Saints were hosting a playoff game. You have a better chance of getting killed in a car wreck going get lunch tomorrow than another terrorist attack. Can’t let them win
