If you find any, yes, technology is taking away jobs. I've said it before on here, I'm glad I'm about to retire and feel bad for what young workers are going to go through.

I hear you, but Clinton was like 30+ years ago and Carter was close to 50. Not sure those two are included in today's economic discussion.

An engineering or accounting degree 20yrs ago, you can easily have multiple job offers. Now not so much.

Young people have the only thing that really matters in life, time. It’s always your most valuable resource.

1970s: a typical house was roughly 2.7–3.3× the typical household’s income.
1980s: it crept up to roughly 3.6–3.8×.
Now: we’re sitting around 5-7x.
The age of a first time home buyer in 2008 was 30 years old. It is now 38 years old.
Rents have gone up inflation adjusted from about $900 a month to about $1,500 a month.
Renting longer at higher prices. This is not the same economy we grew up in.

Now imagine you have no built up wealth, and are just starting out.
I was born nekkid and broke. Now I am a multi-millionaire. You are in the same boat somewhere along your journey in life. Enjoy it.

What would it cost to build a typical 1970s house today?

House sizes keep going up and up. People love to leave this fact out. Amenities and high end materials as well. Pools, boat ports, etc. Everyone thinks they need and deserve a custom home.
But it’s easier to blame inflation and boomers than to admit you have a spending problem.

I asked my mom what she made in the mid 80’s as a bank teller. She said $3.50. Their rent was $300.
They could pay their rent just by her minimum wage 40 hours a week check. Maybe a few dollars short after taxes but you get the idea
Can’t be renting a $1500 apartment on $10 and hour anywhere . The math does not add up anymore

This. The constant bitching and complaining doesn’t change anything. And even if the whole world acknowledges your fiscal challenges, it won’t fix them. Shut up and do the best you can. That’s usually how you get past them.

Clinton for sure should be. Every President since Carter should be.

lot of people were too young to remember that things weren’t all sunshine and rainbows for their parents when they were starting out and had their first kid. Then things stabilized and got better as their parents progressed in their careers and built things up for their families. Now people think it should be “like their parents or grandparents” had it, but they’re remembering things after their parents had been working at it for a while. They think they should be able to live right away as if they’ve been working at it for a decade plus.
They have history books and comparative analysis and other tools. No one needed to be above 70 years ago to know it was an easier path to success. Furthermore, I’m sure all of us who weren’t alive then have had some real life experience of a multitude of our superiors talking about how they got management jobs straight out of a 4-yr degree with no masters. Meanwhile, entry level asks for 3-years experience these days.

Yeah shut up. Telling someone about a problem never solved a problem…how literally every problem gets solved. Bringing awareness to an issue never changed anything.
What type of dumb shite is this?

You shouldn't be renting a $1500 apartment when you make $6/hr less than a starting worker at In-N-Out. Or, there is this cool fad Gen X had, called room mates.
