You didn't need to. Trashy smokers threw there trash everywhere. I got a lot of shitnl out if that Marlboro catalog. Collecting miles was probably one of the very few things I bonded with my mother over

A relative smoked for years, then quit for about 15 years. He said that he missed it and when he retired he was going to smoke again.

He did it, even though he had open heart surgery to address blockages a few years before. He eventually had a major stroke and, once home after weeks of rehab, was smoking again within hours. Died in his early 70s, smoking to the end. Loved those figs.

Marlboro duffle bag and poker set. 20 years later and my son still uses them at college. Along with all my other favorite shite he raided out of my closet.

I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. So when I was in Vietnam I traded all my 4-packs of smokes from my C-Ration boxes for chocolate (shite discs) and Chicklets, and other assorted goodies. I really scored big when I unboxed Kools, Salems and Winstons.

Seeing we used our toothbrushes to clean our rifles, I had 13 cavities when I got back to the states.

I also hated warm/hot beer and traded them for Cokes and Dr. Peppers.

Had a nice little racket going for a while.

All my roommates smoked in college. I worked at the party bar in Athens. I was a hero coming home each night

I think we had everything in the Marlboro catalogue.

Edit..I distinctly (I think) remember us having some canoe in the pool.

Not me but a good friend won an all expenses paid trip to nascar school with airfare 1000 cash and all the smokes you could smoke. I don’t think it was nascar then.

I smoked Camels and Winstons back during those days. (RJR > Phillip Morris) Never saved the Camel Cash to redeem for any products or shwag. Maybe once in awhile a plastic cup or an ashtray might be included in the packaging with a two-pack or three-pack purchase of Camels but I never even considered getting any of the Joe Camel t-shirts or jackets, or anything else with corporate advertising for Camel or any other brand of cigarette. Same goes for beer or liquor. I never have felt any desire to wear clothing with a logo promoting anything along those lines.

But yeah, I remember the Camel Cash bucks hot being glued to the packs or tucked away inside. They were always more of an annoyance than a novelty. Just another piece of glossy paper to clutter up the interior of the car.

It cost me an arm and a lung, but I persevered.

About 6 months ago I bought a Marlboro miles guitar from a guy for a little bit of nothing. After a bit of work and trading out the cheap plastic parts for good stuff, it has turned into a really great guitar. Really happy with it.
