A buddy of mine recently got divorced from a girl he had a child with. He bought her a car when they were together in his name. Since then she hasn't paid a note in 3 months (bank calls him). His credit is steadily being ruined but as he understands it, he can't, by law, just go and take the car from a mother.
What's his play here? Also, her personal credit is terrible so she wouldn't be able to get the car signed over to her in her name.

A lawyer has already been hired and child support has been settled. The deal was that she would pay for it.
She left him for another man as well. He's a good dude and is just trying to do the right thing but her just ruining his credit out of spite is pretty wrong.
Also, the nudes wouldn't be worth it for the OT ballers.

Correct. The bank calls him and tells him that SHE isn't paying the note on the car because it was bought with his credit under his name and they're just letting him know.

So if he just lets the bank repo it, it's gonna just ruin his credit for those months?
That's probably what will happen, I was just wondering if there was anything he could do to stop the credit hits. Those are hard to come back from especially a car repo.

Sorry to say he is gonna get screwed twice. One on the credit hit. Second they will sell the car at auction then they will ask him to pay the difference from what was owed and what they got for it at auction.
just have them repo it and move on.

The finance company will not care that ex wife supposed to pay note. He should have had her purchase car and refinance in her name at divorce settlement.
