picking and choosing which laws to enforce is not “protecting”
Protecting citizens means using judgment to address the threat in real time. So spare me the lecture about selective enforcement. This isn’t hand-wringing over jaywalking; it’s stopping a would-be vehicular manslaughter because fatty didn't get his greasy slop fix that day.

They had plenty of opportunity to box the van in.
Protecting citizens isn’t about fanciful play-by-play scheming; it’s about decisive action to stop the threat now. And sometimes that means taking the shot before there’s time to draw up the blueprint. He drove his vehicle directly at them. He died for doing so.
End of story. Lesson Learned.

How many cops were needed to empty their clips before the target was subdued?
Police Officers aren’t counting rounds; they’re firing until the threat stops. If that takes an entire magazine, so be it. You don’t pause, reload, and call a tactical meeting when a 2 ton minivan and 400lb slob is barreling towards them.
Critiquing “how many bullets” ignores reality: there are no quotas in these situations. You fire until the danger is over. End of story. The real question isn’t how many bullets, but why anyone would expect cops to treat a weaponized vehicle any differently than a hooded gunman.

I've been called worse.

Much to unpack there. Won’t solve much. I’ll say this, I’m not in that position, hopefully never will be. It’s easy to question methods and application of those methods. I struggle though, as a bystander, to understand what I viewed in a 20 second clip of an incident as being appropriate application.
I have an unfavorable opinion of cops, generally speaking. So I will look through a different lens than you and that’s ok.

completely agree
Look, I get it—you watched 20 seconds on your phone and you’re left with more questions than answers. Police Officers are trained to use overwhelming force to neutralize a deadly threat, not to dial up a gentle “pause” button and negotiate with a van. So while your skepticism is understandable, I’ll stand by these officers: they fulfilled the one duty that matters—keeping innocent people alive. And to me, that’s worth every round they fired.

Vehicles kill thousands every year by accident. You don't think they are more than capable of killing someone purposely?

How would you feel as a bystander if that van ran over your family member while trying to get a burger?

Right off the bat, anyone who says “they fired too many shots” or calls magazines “clips”, I chalk it up to someone who has zero clue on deadly force policy or law enforcement in general.
They had a community organizer (grift expert) who had a crusade against the police for shooting violent offenders… he accepted the departments offer to put him in a simulation that officers use for training. He shot several unarmed targets and was hyperventilating the whole time. He said he was terrified during the whole training exercise.
Basically, real easy to get up on your high horse when you have zero idea what you’re talking about.

Looked like suicide by cop.

Not one single conservative white person is going to protest or demand an apology or sue.. because we believe that bad people deserve to have consequences brought upon them in accordance with that they deserve.

Thats how they are trained. They'll get their hand slapped if not, and something bad occurs.
A vehicle is a deadly weapon, the way he used it. Youre wrong in this situation.
Was it overkill? Sure, but thats exactly how they are trained

So the video in the OP was the second burst of shots fired at him?
It was dumb to ram the car trying to push it out of the line and dumber to ram the first cop, but to try to ram another cop twice after already getting fired upon was him just wanting suicide by cop.
