If they didn’t remove CARBs ability to impose additional standards this is worthless.

Was my first truck. Blue w the tan stripe/trim. Was good looking but Damn near had to replace everything within 3 years. Never drove a GMC/Chevy again.

Nothing more American than a Toyota Hilux

As long as it is manufactured in the US, Toyota can call it anything they want.

Fun fact, Toyota Tundra trucks are manufactured in Texas and have more American components than some US manufacturers.

Therein lies the problem.

There’s a reason this entire term (just like the last one) is almost 100% executive orders.

Our so called Republican House and Senate are not interested in passing (or repealing) any laws. Never have been.

What this is doing is eliminating the push to invest heavily in EV’s and preserve ICE’s in their current state for an extra decade.

We need to roll back the Obama era rules and crash safety targets to get the original Defender and 70 series Land Cruiser to the US market. If we do I’m buying one.

1,000,000% THIS. I had an engine screw up on me for this exact reason.

Remove barriers to making lower cost cars.

Would require rolling back decades of regulation. I'm for it.

Remove barriers to car companies selling direct to buyers.

Would require screwing over a special interest group. I'm for it.

Give tax credits for cars sold below $30,000 and require car companies to make a certain number of such cars.

Tax credits maybe, but don't dictate the numbers. Let the market work.

Basically, we should all be driving Japanese k trucks.

Nah. If I can afford it and want it, I should be able to have it.

Yep, been telling people this for years. Huge reason why everyone is seeing such a swift decline in quality since COVID.

For example, Honda expedited the design and production of their 1.5L turbo engine to simply adhere to CAFE standards, when they should've spent more time developing it and instead continue to roll out their renowned K series engines. The early 1.5L turbo's especially in the CRV had severe oil dilution issues. That's something you don't typically see out of Honda.

That truck would be a god send for me. Oldest is starting to drive and no way I’m spending the dumb money they want for used trucks. A 15k, NEW, Hilux… take my money Toyota.

Nah. I watched the presentation yesterday. All of the manufacturers like ford were elated that these are revoked.

By the time the dealers are done playing their "we need to make a profit" game, it'll be a 35k truck
