Buy a slightly used one and save a ton.

Price likely to drop that much?
Not at all. I am actually looking at trucks now and found a brand new 2015 with no miles on it and they still want a new car price for it. Lariat with a 56k sticker on it and they backed off no more than anyone else with the same sticker price.

just got the 2015 lariat with 0%/72 months 15K off msrp. Don't let them tell you they can't do it.

Why would the pric drop?
Isn't the truck the new "luxury" vehicle?

The thing about buying a brand new car is that you're only ahead of the curve for a year. Enjoy the first year.

You can't just show up to a lot and expect to find a good deal, but if you take your time and shop, sometimes there are still great deals on used. Trucks and SUV's are definitely harder, but many cars still take a huge hit when driven off the new lot.
I know we paid in the low 30's for a year old Tahoe (actually had almost 2 1/2 years left on warranty) with 19k miles that would have sold for mid to upper 40's new. But I was looking sporadically for two months and happened to show up as the Tahoe was being traded in by someone else.

There are loads of oilfield trucks on used lots now. Just need to do some searching and may have to drive a few hours to pick it up. There are great deals to be made if you look.

And I guess the guy bashing the 3.5 ecoboost and it's longevity hasn't heard about all the 2011-2013 5.0's cylinder failures (#4 especially) causing the owners to have to buy new long blocks? Most with only 60-90k miles on them.

This. Was looking at trucks for my parents and a dealer in Dallas had a brand new 2015 XLT 302A luxury package with chrome package advertised for $33k Internet price. I emailed them and guy dropped price to $30,800. I went into dealership ready to buy, but wanted the almost 2 yr old truck for $29,500. They wouldn't budge off the $30,800. I passed.
Next day I went to another dealership and found a 2016 with same 302a package and sport package and they ended up buying it for $30,850. Just $50 more than the 2015.
Don't expect to find used trucks with low mileage in good condition for much less than that. I told them I could probably sell the one they bought for more than they paid

2wd? 6.5' bed? program truck?
I'd have to see the sticker & papers to believe this on a loaded 4 door short bed 4x4 in a popular color.

Exactly.
The "buy used" crowd can anonymously downvote us, but they can't hide from facts.

On a 2015? They're doing everything they can to move 15s. You're aware that 17s are about to hit the lots, right?

MSRP on the one I am looking at is 56,500 and I think they wouldn't go any lower than 49ish before trade and that was after all the rebates. The problem is that the truck is worth about 7k less than the same '16 when it is bought. If they would have gotten in the 44 to 45k range I would have bought it because I am going to beat it up and use it as a work truck anyway.
