I used to get dropped off at the musicland entrance in the 90s with my boys, go to musicland and look at CDs, go to spencers and look at WTF stuff for the humor, get a band t-shirt at Gadzooks, walk over to chik fil-a and get a few free sample nuggets, then either eat at: mama bravas, taco bell, or mandarian express.

After that we would go to spaceport and play games the rest of the time, maybe hitting up Babbgages and Electronics Boutique on the way, and if we would bored enough, go by journey's and talk to hippie dude before throwing pennies in the fountains.

Nostalgia hard.

I took part in this exact sequence at Cortana back in 1983-84 with my older brother.

That was back when Merry Go Round was really small and dark and had an unreasonably low ceiling, if I recall.

It was a strange place, but where else were you going to get your parachute pants and Members Only jackets?

Damn, I worked at this location back in high school and early college. Even at a location like that, the service when I was there was still heads and shoulders above every other fast food joint. It's not as good as the freestanding stores, but it was still good. Last time I worked there though was 2007 though, it's been a long time.

Im sure they sell as is and whoever buys it will have some innovative idea that would work if it wasn't in North BR. See Bon Marche Mall.

Didn't someone buy it like 1.5-2yrs ago? It was for some pittance for that amount of land, like $5mil. Though I don't know if they also purchased debts that weren't included in the price or something.

LINK

was 3yrs ago for $6mil. Just seems so incredibly cheap for a tract of land that size, ignoring the structures already there.

Toys by Roy's that was next to Sears entrance was awesome. It was a sad day in my life when it closed.

if you bought paint from the Sears paint department around 1993, you may have bought it from me. And if you shopped at Bakers Shoe Store around 1993, you may have bought shoes from my wife...both of us are Cortana Mall alums...

Our wives may have worked together, especially if she was there in their early 2000's boom.

The demographics of all neighborhoods along Florida Blvd from Airline hwy to Oneal Ln have changed drastically in the past 20 years. As they changed, so did the outlook for businesses in that area of Baton Rouge.
