I have never once used the BBB for anything.

Try a place out, if you don’t like it, don’t go back. Don’t live life going off google reviews and BBB.

Some people are just little bitches and want to leave bad reviews for petty BS

As a side note, it's always funny to me when I hear someone threaten a business with "calling the BBB" like that should scare them.

Worked for me when a dealership screwed up some paperwork which destroyed my wife's credit score. Then they refused to quickly rectify their mistakes.

The paperwork they needed was in storage down the road and they said it may take a month to get it. BBB threat and they had it the next day.

Post a negative review on Facebook, and you're likely to get a response within a day from a manager.

Am I the only one who gets a bit turned off if I go on an establishment's Yelp page, or I guess Facebook, and I see the overly zealous manager who thinks they need to respond in some way to EVERY even somewhat negative post about their place?

it’s probably employees of the BBB who filed the complaints in the first place? …

Now they are trying to hold them ransom

Looking at the signs posted outside of Bucees, they pay their employees very well.

Which is probably why the stores are so clean and the volume of sales is so high (staffed to restock/produce and to get drivers through the checkout and back to their cars).

I'd rather focus my money on staff than on BBB or marketing.

There is likely no better example of an "it is, what it is" type of business than Buc-ee's.

It's easy to see how there could be any number of things about it that people might not like, but basically EVERYTHING about their establishments IS their "business plan."

The whole notion that there might be something anyone could go complain about regarding them to the Better Business Bureau that would conceivably change anything they do, is pretty preposterous. About equally as preposterous as the idea that anything the Better Business Bureau might be able to say anything about them that could actually affect their business.

How is Buccees supposed to mitigate people being inconsiderate assholes?

hang on now.

Bucees is the only station where it is acceptable to be at a pump longer than while your gas is pumping.

Why? because they have 10x more pumps than are actually needed.

The reality is the fat bitch didn't want to walk 50ft further and wanted one of the pumps front and center.

there was a time when the BBB would actually help consumers resolve real issues. i can't tell you how long ago that was--it's been that long.

Only old people even consider the BBB for anything much less know who they are this day and age

Completely useless and irrelevant organization. I don't know that I've ever considered them for any decision my entire life.

Bucee’s had 88 complaints from 33 locations over a 6 - 7 year period, which given the traffic going through each location, is insignificant. They should ignore the BBB, and if pushed like this, they need to point out the pay-for-praise system BBB uses. Screw em.

Buc-ee's having an F rating by the BBB is a death knell.

For the BBB

Who checks BBB ratings? I wasn't aware that a thing since like 1999.
Google reviews etc carries way more importance than that. Especially if it's something you have to pay into with.
I imagine the corporate equivalent to "ISO 14000" certified.

One of the complaints was about cars parked at the gas pumps.

I see this at Buc-ee's in texas more than anywhere else. People set their cars to pump gas then walk in the store while the car is filling up. lol

The snarling traffic every single day tells me those F ratings don’t mean shite.

If you're really in a bind with a company that is blowing you off over a legit concern (not because your food wasn't good), then the move, in my experience, is to threaten to file a complaint with your state's consumer protection division or equivalent. I'm sure it varies by state.

But unlike the BBB, there is a chance a state agency will take a look if the business is doing something genuinely improper, and even if it's more of a bad business thing than a violative thing, it can cost them money to sort through and explain their position.
