Obviously they are taking a big hit, but to be fair, we aren't halfway through the year yet, so if you prorate that 140 it is a lot closer to the old amount, but still a major hit.

Remember not long ago when there was a big push to get rid of any BRPD that didn't live in the city limits of BR? Imagine how much worse those numbers would be now if those idiots had gotten their way.

Idiocracy at work here.
shite on police = less police = more crime.
So simple even that mongoloid Broome can figure it out, or maybe not.

The average person doesn't know how to do math anyway. Paper can sensationalize it and no one will question it. I don't agree with SWB policies, but it hasn't changed the applicant rate yet.

In 2017, there have been 140 applicants and six hires.
Leaving BR 42 men short.
That is pretty significant.

It's about to be June... halfway through the year.
quote:
- In 2014, there were 435 applicants and 35 hires.
- In 2015, there were 354 applicants and 58 hires.
- In 2016, there were 338 applicants and 37 hires.
- In 2017, there have been 140 applicants and six hires.
So the current trend would have us at <300 applicants and <20 hires by the end of the year. I don't see anything being sensationalized here. And if you really think the current atmosphere in BR is going to help bring these numbers up then you probably need to pull your head out of the sand (or your arse).

You can oppose bullshite police tactics and behavior while still wanting a full police force.
Just change the laws and their training. And pay them more with better benefits.
And I don't mean shooting black people. I mean things like civil asset forfeiture and nonviolent low quantity drug arrests.

Raise the pay and you'll get better more qualified applicants

They will continue to go down as long as you have those two nut jobs leading those respective places. Would you want to work around that? I have a few friends on BRPD and they got to be very careful what they say/text from their personal phones. What kind of crap is that? But like it was said
"Making Baton Rouge great again" Glad I do not live in either place! Livingston/Ascension Parishes starting to look really good right? Yea go ahead and agree you know you want to!

There is a certain element in our community believe that fewer cops is good.
The number of cops has been down for awhile, but it's getting worse. Pay is low, now morale is low too. It's not a good situation.
It started under Kip and is getting worse under Broome.

No ones head is in their arse over here. Assuming the applicants are through May, your applicant rate extrapolated to the end of the year would be 336 (338 last year), not <300. The hire rate would be lower at about 15. Is that a function of SWB policy that they aren't hiring at the same rate per applicant? That is a tougher question to answer since the article gives nothing to base assumptions.
My point about sensationalizing is that looking at this
There is no way to know what those numbers are reporting. Do the 2014-2016 numbers represent through May of each of those years? Or the whole year? At what point was the 2017 number taken? If taken at the end of March or April, applicants are up and hiring may be on par. They purposefully left it ambiguous to create something that may not be there.
Again, as stated, I don't support her policies. However, this article doesn't provide enough information to make an informed decision due to sloppy reporting in my view.

The ranks were low before Broome took over, but it's getting worse. This is not new.

Crime is about to drop drastically. Or should we say reported crime? No one to report it to!

I cannot figure why pensions are still a thing. They are crushing our public services.

It's actually crushing the city right now and they are figuring out a way to either pay a percentage of it completely right now or find a way to completely get out of it all together.

Not necessarily true. You'll still have primarily the same pool applying.
