I live a block from Broadmoor High and I heard 5 (five) shots at that time.

Wow, lots of us in here!

I kind of grew up in many ways around Sherwood and Broadmoor due to the big Baptist church I went to on Florida Blvd. Still today I know people who have recently moved to Broadmoor, and the area still looks quite nice in my opinion.

Quite deceptive apparently. It's a real shame.

I know it’s a running joke here, but if it had happened last Sunday, it really could’ve been me.

I’ve spent a chunk of the past couple of weeks doing surveys in that neighborhood—including the full length of Browning. A few sketchy areas around the perimeter, but overall it seemed safe/secure. Lots of older/retired folks and more empty houses than this current real estate market would suggest. But, damn, it didn’t seem that bad.

Central is still a pretty nice little burb but it was very country in the 80s. It was only a matter of time before some of those neighborhoods down Hooper towards Mickens started turning though. They were falling one by one in the late 90s. Sharon Hills used to be a really nice neighborhood.

Also, the Central Thruway made that area much more accessible. There are prices to pay for that.

Central as we knew it is gone.

All of those older neighborhoods like Comite Estates, Tanglewood, Carmel Acres, Monhegan etc are nothing like they used to be. I think that will continue down Hooper.

My dad still owns a rental in our old neighborhood that I help him manage and I've been trying to get him to sell it while he can still get something for it.

Our family land was off central thruway. The parish for the thruway and the landscaping company have purchased all of our family land there.

I think I know some of your family. One of either 2 families. Was one of your family members a bus driver?

Well, I went to Broadmoor, 43 years ago. And Browning Dr. runs right to the high school.

And we certainly were not concerned about something like this going on.

My grandparents owned 38 acres down Blackwater almost to Pride and my dad recently sold it to the preacher in the news a lot during Covid
