This is the third reported shooting of the day. A double shooting occurred this afternoon on Stearns St in NBR. Not surprising for NBR, but this drive-by in Broadmoor is unnerving. Typically, there’s plenty of people out and about walking the neighborhood on a Sunday. It sounds like the victim may not make it, however; it’s a good thing no one who was out mowing their grass was hit.

All facts. We used to laugh about it, but crime in Baton Rouge really has become out of control.

BR has had its fair share of crime as long as I can remember but it used to be fairly contained. Not anymore though.

Broome should’ve made it a year of peas and this wouldn’t have happened.

20 years from now, when this city is a shell of it's former self, when violent crime touches every neighborhood in both the inner city and suburbs weekly, when major industries have long since packed up and left for a better work force and quality of life for their employees, I hope most will remember how this started;

Following the summer of '16, local political leaders built their power on villainizing the police and restricting their efforts to hold the simplest criminals accountable.

That will be the moment many look back and recognize that they were sold a lie, the consequences of which this area never recovered from.

Very true. Our parents still live in Central and won't move (yet?) but it is ridiculous.

The people- exactly. We worked in mid city right past Broadmoor and I always stopped at that Hi Nabor, ate at Piccadilly and Thai Pepper, shopped at Bed Bath and Beyond etc at Cortana. Then the support of the police stopped and things are way worse now.

Right by our family home behind the high school. When we visit family my wife and I walk the dog along there as part of a loop we take. Sad.

Dang I run on browning road all the time and that is south of Goodwood. When will we hold the perpetrators that commit these atrocities and the elected officials that enable this accountable?

I used to think that the OT was being dramatic about this but I don't think so anymore. BR will end up like Jackson, MS. I think a large percentage of the remaining tax base will leave the city in the next 10-20 years unless someone comes along and reverses everything we've been doing for the last 5 years or so. Unlikely unfortunately.

Couple blocks from where I grew up.

Wasn’t there a rapper party house near that address (10679 Browning)? Windows were blacked out and had surveillance cameras on each corner of the house. Google shows a bball court in backyard.

Ever since the True Bleeda shooting I've been trying to read up on the gang violence in the area. It also helps to know the really bad areas since I've started delivering food

And from what I can tell, I doesn't get much worse than
this area:

That's 5400 boyz in Zion City. Look it up on Google Maps
Isn't their leader recently indicted?? What I'm wondering is, how did he get out during the middle of last year. That's where the real problems are. They people should not be getting out on bond so easily. And probation? C'mon...

You never know what the future holds but me and my minuscule tax percentage hope like Hell to never live there again.

Did you happen to go to Central? I'm asking because I graduated from Central High roughly 15 years ago. Gosh I'm getting old!
