It’s wild that a professional degreed engineer with 10 years earn so little.

I guess what I envisioned when I was young thinking of engineers and how a single income could a raise a family in a nice house with a stay at home wife and fully funded retirement.

Ehhh. Not so on that salary these days.
Yes that is a fear. I know not everyone ends being the company you keep but it does influence you.
Did you have to move out the city and go the public school route? Or go the magnet/gifted program route?
I bet you must be filled with pride. Congrats.

One day I hope to be in your position but I don’t want to rush the sweetness of the memories.

Broadmoor bound baw.
Yeah you are about right. Four we could swing I think but it would be super tight.
My second just started daycare and I’m at $230 a week per kid so, $11,960 a year per, $23,920 total.

In our minds it’s very important to send our kids to catholic schools as I want them to have that religious foundation at home and at school. I also want them to be in a good school and to be surrounded by, on average, higher achieving peers.

Me and my wife make great money but I’m getting quite concerned or nervous about what life will be like if God blesses us with another child or another two or three.

We practice NFP, Marquette method currently, but I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this and if they had any perspective or guidance.

I guess my perfect dream would be to make a ton of money and have as many kids as God provides.
The 30 day yield is 4.17% but that is 4.17% over an entire year right?

Like a 6 month t bill is at 4.17% but you would only get 2.85% yield correct?

50-60% of your gross pay is a good place to start. It will be conservative but after insurance, taxes, 401k, Roth if you still qualify, it will be about right.
If you are going to have kids in daycare and or private school he is not wrong at all.
Yeah baw. I’m a licensed engineer too. Your salary needs to be about double what you are making.
Idk from glossing over your OP, if you don’t retire then none of us will.

Yeah we received a gallon of chicken & sausage and a gallon of seafood gumbo to take home after a party and man both were actually very good for a restaurant.
Hm that may be but not that I have noticed but I typically don’t drive that way.
The northwest side got that vine street light onto airline. Tis superb.
Just thought I’d give a yearly update. I’ve learned a lot being a first time homeowner but as far as the neighborhood goes I will say it’s very quiet considering I’m a stones throw from Airline and Florida and it’s great to run or bike.

Haven’t had any problems with any vagabonds or anything of the sort so far.

There’s a guy down the street, dakmak construction, finishing up this new build on what looks to me to be close to a $1 million home in the original Broadmoor neighborhood. Which is nice.

Definitely need that trend to continue though.
usmortgagenewsdaily will give you broad based accurate information. Sure there will be variance between lenders, but it should be a great starting point.

Mine rose 47%. First time home buyer last year, flood zone x.

My property tax jumped similarly as well.

Good times.
