That bit about setting hotels on fire may have been what got her.

There's irony in that the American left argued that ACTUALLY setting buildings on fire and destroying people's property wasn't even violence or criminal since it was politically/socially motivated.

If you run into a crowded theater and scream fire…. Your speech is not protected at all.

Despite being a lawyer I don't have a strong take on this. However, there is a pretty common stance by first amendment attorneys that this trope isn't true:

quote:

"Anyone who says 'you can't shout fire! in a crowded theatre' is showing that they don't know much about the principles of free speech, or free speech law—or history," Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression President Greg Lukianoff wrote in 2021. "This old canard, a favorite reference of censorship apologists, needs to be retired. It's repeatedly and inappropriately used to justify speech limitations."

Nonetheless, it gets used casually all the time to the frustration of many in the con law community (notably Alito a few years ago).

But comments like this are also a gray area in the US regarding its legality.

Gray area? Really? Since when?

How is this any different than the consistent calling for violence against an ex president that the Left is still doing to this very minute?

It never ceases to amaze me how many adults don't know what the First Amendment says.

the gray area would be whether her tweet is an actual call to violence.

you can’t tell people to go light a hotel on fire.

Black: Go set the hotels that give them asylum on fire

White: I wouldn’t care if the hotels they were in went up in flames.

Grey: set their hotels on fire, see if I care.

part of the issue here was that there were some riots after where people attacked some mosques and set a police station on fire.

31 months is a lot though.

I actually don't mind it.
Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers shouldn't be labeled as "teachers".
Childminder is more suitable.

My wife was a Pre-K and K teacher for a decade.
She wholeheartedly disagrees with my assessment.

Why did that happen?

Did muslims rape and stab 3 young girls or something?

No, here you can actually set fire to the buildings and get bailed out by the useless Vice President.

What a great word

quote:

that called for "mass deportation now", and for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire, adding: "If that makes me racist, so be it."

Has she considered posting on the OT?
