Nope. Private security contractors may have, but not the US government.

Interesting question because I guarantee you many on this board would say YES if it only targeted inner cities but NO if it targeted the suburbs or affluent areas. Parallel responses based on racial makeup of areas where covert forces are sent. Just saying.......
Do you think police shouldn’t target areas where the vast majority of crime occurs because it might be racist? That would be very stupid.

While it might be down, it's not significant. Still among the most dangerous cities in America.

There's all sorts of urban myths/legends this exactly happened following Katrina.
Exactly urban myths/legends. Almost as beliveable as the rescue dogs who died immediately after going into the water.

would be unconstitutional. they have the right to due process same as anybody else. do you want a government that sends covert forces to take out their own citizens?
You might tell that to our former president who ordered a drone strike to kill Anwar al-Awlaki, a US citizen without the inconvenience of a trial and conviction.

This actually happened after Katrina. Snipers were taking out looters left and right. There was an influx of gangs from other states and government went hunting.

there were armed guards paid to protect a certain neighborhood and the communications workers that went to work on cell towers and navigational beacons... but there were no active duty military snipers our prowling.....

besides the fact that it's illegal to use the military to enforce laws on US soil without an act of congress?

Four years ago, an American drone strike in Yemen killed Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born imam. It was a targeted attack; more than a year earlier, the Obama administration and the CIA had placed Awlaki's name on a "capture or kill list."
