So late 2018 or early 2019 at best. Over and under on this prediction?

Repairs will be done during the weekdays of Mon-Fri between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm. And traffic cones will be set up to slow down traffic on opposing streets.

That timeline is for total replacement of the bridge, which was already in the pipeline. The emergency repairs to get it back open are supposed to take about 5 weeks.

Several things can be done to make the repairs quick, efficient and well done.
When the I-85 overpass collapsed in ATL in the Spring, (this was a federal project as well as city/state), the construction was 24/7 and the contractors were given substantial bonuses for meeting deadlines and finishing ahead of time with inspections passed.
AT least they can do the repairs overnight instead of during the daytime.
With the college football season fast approaching and school starting back up, the university should also feel the importance of a speedy reconstruction.

That's plain stupid. I don't get involved in politics much but I'm gonna have to start calling my congressman. It's like they are trying to make it inconvenient for people.
I wish they would just leave the shoulder open to any people that want to risk it.

Right?! I've seen, too often, major wrecks shutting down a stretch of highway, and instead of helping people divert, LEOs race up and down the shoulders stopping and ticketing people trying to get out of the bottle neck standstill.

This. The original story was updated ( LINK), and it's supposed to be open by mid-August or at least by the first home game.

A bridge on Nicholson Dr. between Brightside Dr. and Gardere Ln. is expected to reopen mid August, says the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).
Officials announced Friday, July 14 that the bridge should reopen in five weeks.
While there is heavy traffic on that stretch of roadway on most any day, the traffic is particularly heavy on the days of LSU home football games. The first home game of the upcoming season scheduled for September 9.
If the weather cooperates, the bridge should be open in time for that first home game.

5 weeks
That's what they said on the news yesterday. Basically, they are trying to get it done before the start of school.

So basically we are spending a shite ton of money to bandaid it for a year then they will rip it all out for a new bridge? Seems legit.

It won't cost a "shite ton of money" to make the repairs and I would say that the 5 week estimate is conservative. To replace the bridge would take many months of the road being closed.
Someone referenced the fast replacement of the span in Atlanta. Do some research into how much that cost if you want to learn about shite tons.
This repair is the equivalent to having to put new tires on your car that you plan to sell in 2 years. You can't drive around on steel belts in the meantime.

They are already closing it for several months to fix it, only to close it again in a year to replace it.

I haven't seen any plans for how they are fixing it but they were driving pile out there today, which is more than some routine maintenance.

The bridge was closed a little over a week ago and will more than likely be opened by mid-August. Even if you want to say the end of August, how does that equate to "several months"?
They are putting in additional piles to "brace" or strengthen the existing substructure. No, it isn't "routine maintenance" but it is a fairly common practice with old bridges like this to slightly extend the lifespan until they can be replaced.

When I saw that I nearly crapped my pants I was so surprised. Good for them

Please expound on your knowledge of what constitutes routine and non-routine maintenance

Yes and to their credit DOTD did not mess around.
