It's one of the projects listed and it's underway.

Look it up, it's a state highway but EBR has been paying to upgrade state highways for years.

The link you gave doesn't say anything about reconstructing the bridge on the other side of Brightside. It only mentions adding turn lanes on all four approaches to the intersection.
If the project included replacing or rebuilding the bridge with Green Light Plan funds you'd think the project description would mention that.

It's a bit tricky, but if you follow the link to the page that describes the project, at the bottom they list the bridge under " Hydrology/Hydraulics"

We're talking about two different projects. The one I'm referring to is the Nicholson/Brightside interchange improvements for a total cost of $9.2 million.

You're referring to widening Nicolson to 5 lanes for a distance of 1.63 miles at a cost of $42.4 million.

Which creek crossing is it exactly? Because there is one that has to be replaced for that intersection upgrade, shown on this preliminary layout map.

And it is mentioned here as being part of the intersection improvement project as well:

I think they separated the intersection improvement and Nicholson widening projects because one was eligible for federal or state funds and the other was not. It looks like the Arlington Creek bridge replacement is on the intersection improvement project.

Because that would require forsight, something DOTD simply doesn't possess. They will avoid spending $500k now to plan for future expansion even if it means it will cost 10 to 20 times more in the future to improve on their short-sighted design

They will spend that $500k....just not on anything in Baton Rouge.

Yep, I don't see anything bad happening here. If this is still going on come fall classes, all roads south of campus down to Gonzalez will be an utter shite show.

LA30 needs to be widened all the way to Gonzales. So does Airline and a bunch of other neglected state and/or federal roads.

Let's just dig up all the roadways and replace them at the same time.

Don't bother calling the mayor's office. She's too busy using your tax dollars to build nice housing in NBR for her real constituents

I have a suspicion that this will take weeks. Be prepared for it to be until early August for the repairs to be completed.

This is great the people this bridge affects the most are the sponges of society that either use tops to go to LSU or work at LSU which indirectly benefit from increased enrollment. due to tops.

Yes, this is karma paying Tops sponges back!

There are two projects for Nicholson in the Green Light Plan.

The one underway now is to improve the Brightside/W Lee intersection.

If you read the concept and when you look at the visuals, the bridge over Arlington Creek next to that church that was torn down is included.

It's the bridge for the creek that flows between some apartments and where that old church was South of W Lee.

It is a major route for trucks serving the chemical plants in Ascension/Iberville Parish on the east bank.

I don't think that's the one that's closed, is it. When I got to Lee/Brightside and 30 the other day, it looked like you could get to Ben Hur, which is beyond that. I thought the bridged that was closed is the one by the Fire School?

Front page of the B Section in today's Advocate says its the bridge South of West Lee, and North of Dean Lee.

Don't get the paper, so I will take your word for it. Assuming they don't move of the replacement, it makes one wonder how much of a nightmare it will be when they DO replace if next year (Claycut bridge comes to mind).

Sorry, but I looked at the Advocate on line and didn't see the article.

We have the paper here at work and that's where I got my info. I'm sure others can verify.
