I just spent too long watching this. Why didn’t Ben just report stolen goods and go from there? Make it criminal at the start.
First, Ben is not a party here; he is just helping the family. He has made some reckless choices, which are clearly on brand. ETA I should have been more clear he inserted himself as a legal party by buying a portion of the disputed collection so he is part of the civil matter but not part of the criminal matter vis a vis theft though he is dick deep in the whole thing now.
Despite the liberal use of theft here, this really isn't theft; it is in most jurisdictions, a civil matter: it is a bailor and bailee relationship that ended in apparent conversion.

The guy is a hair trigger temper to say the least but there is no fricking way they should have been pulling over a good hour out of their jurisdiction.
At BEST they call local cops or highway patrol to deal with it.

I get that Ben plays things up for clicks, but I just don't buy this. A national chain is exerting an inordinate amount of effort to "Steal" $200k worth of Lego? And $200k? Really? Maybe $50k.
I mean. Maybe it's real. People do dumb shite all the time, but this seems really dumb. Just give the dude his shite back. Something is frickity with that contract or we have some serious Eastern European money laundering going on.

The problem is the guy made a legal exit. That's how you exit the highway there. The HOV lane ends and lets you get in it to take a left turn exit off the interstate there. The whole stop was illegal to begin with no matter if it was in his jurisdiction.

200k was the market value of the entire lego collection. That's a clickbait amount of money. They were never going to make that amount of money and the family acknowledges that, that 200k includes a percentage the store would take from the sale as well. The store could easily charge the public around 200k for the entire collection if it was all sold.
The actual value the family had left to collect off the sale of the sets and mini figures to sell was between 60-100k, the family was asking for 80k to resolve everything from B&M. Two of the sets they had left to sell alone go for 10k each market value.
The shop had already sold some sets and paid them to Bryan before corporate idiots took over the store.
The set list with what sold is out there with market value, it does not include the minifigure list. I'm not sure the former owner tracked that as thoroughly.

Ben has the public’s support against the Utah cops and BAM. The BAM CEO can pound sand. Good on Patreon.

Can we get Mitt Romney to go on a tds filled rant so Donny will set his sights on this cult?

I like to put together the tecnic sets.
Instead of "to get fired on your day off" replace it with "to lose $200k in a lego scam".

Where BAM is big enough to lawfare the family, and Ben, Patreaon is big enough to lawfare BAM.

I can’t get enough of this. I subscribed to the Patreon. If yall want spoilers when update 3 comes out, let me know. I thought nothing could get crazier than that Pepsi, where’s my jet documentary, but damn I was wrong

If I knew nothing about the situation and only watched that ABC news clip, I’d side with the cops and think those YouTubers are troublemakers. Those news anchors may be Mormons too. Who knows?

I’d think that the local news would reflexively defend the locals vs the outsiders, Mormon or not.
Maybe they just don’t want to get pulled over by the American Fork PD an hour out of their jurisdiction.

this is insane
it’s such a classic case of being wrong and continuing to double down to the point of absurdity…and that absurdity becomes so absurd that it makes the original story seem like the crazy one
and honestly Ben would seem crazy unless he documented every single second from the start, which he just so happened to do.
regardless of anything, how the Utah law enforcement acted during this deserves DOJ scrutiny and an entire cleaning of house and all cops involved fired. the fact that cops are so willing to do this with body camera on is also mind blowing
the next logical step in this case is going to be YouTube taking these videos down at the request of the PD or bricks and minifig corporate…because these cops and bricks and mini figs have no other option than to just censor and ban everything into oblivion with the hole they are in

This police department got completely blindsided by how big this got. Everything now is just them trying justify their retarded officers blatantly harassing this YouTuber.
Yes I know the YouTuber did his own harassing. I don’t think anyone disagrees with that. He has harassed this company and the owners of the store. Who I think the public mostly agrees they probably deserved it. They definitely deserved to be sued obviously.
The problem is, cops can’t do that. They’re not a mafia. And you definitely can’t do it with everything being public now.
I think they went all in to try and strong arm this kid thinking he was just being a nuisance streamer and trying to get clicks. Which might even be true. Problem for the cops is, he was also legitimate and right about everything. Big problem for the cops.

I really think the CEO has little man syndrome. He looks to be about 5'4" or so and he has a little bit of power in the Mormon community, his town, and his company and he thought that translated to the rest of the world. He can't stand to admit he is wrong, hence the 330-page lawsuit against Ben, where he even went for civil Rico, which is likely to get tossed. Dude just wants to win at all costs due to his syndrome and has blinders on to the damage he is doing.

The people running corporate are absolute morons. Even if they actually believe they've done nothing wrong, the damage to the brand has far exceeded 200k. I had never even heard of these people until this event. The brand is now synonymous with scamming and corruption.
Seems like they are willing to burn down the company rather than swallow their pride
