ABC4 is bottom tier Utah news behind KSL, Fox13, and KUTV2.
But I posted the Youtube like to this earlier...

Bricks and Minifigs (Lego reseller), scammed a family out of $200k in legos
teke184
Family brought sets to BAM to be sold.
Signs contract where the stuff is consigned instead of sold outright.
Some of the stuff moved on consignment but a significant portion was left when the franchisee sold to a new franchisee. At that point, it appears the new franchisee ended up with the remaining collection without paying for them, probably assuming they were owned by prior franchisee.
Except there is a video of the new owner kicking out the old owner and specifically this guys set and consignment was mentioned and acknowledged. He even went as far as to say they would handle it. Also initially the new owners and store manager denied its existence on their property despite having the pieces listed on their website.

Lets get some cliffnotes bud
Posted on 6/3/26 at 9:31 am to Carson123987
there is truly no way to cliffnotes this because of how insane and deep the rabbit hole gets…the TLDR is corporation using their money and power to flex on a dude, and they also have local LEO and judge in their pocket to do whatever they want and would get away with it if the YouTuber Ben didn’t document all of their lies on hidden cameras.
Cliff notes to this point:
Bricks and Minifgs corporate took over a franchisee store that had a large Star Wars collection…after corporate took it over, didn’t give the legos back to owner.
When owner asked why, corporate said it’s a local franchise issue. Local franchise said talk to corporate in a loop. Once pinned down, local franchise then said “oh it’s previous franchisees fault, not my problem, sue us” knowing that the lawsuit would be more expensive than the collection. So the family sent an email to this YouTuber telling the story, so he just casually starts calling around asking about the legos.
That’s literally the start, from there he records every interaction with the store and law enforcement and it just gets deeper and crazier, and eventually they accuse the YouTuber of stealing the legos and SWAT his house with full gun drawn tactical gear.
The owner of bricks and minfigs, the judge in the town signing off on everything, and all the local pd are all Mormon and all went to BYU so it seems like this towns entire legal system is corrupt and has each others back…the cops outright lie, harass Ben, and then send back redacted audio clips. But they accidentally left the audio in one of the redacted clips that shows them straight up lying about why they redacted it. The police chief also just did a press conference after the video release and just straight up lied about what everyone can see and watch themselves so I guess their current plan is to confuse to quadruple down on their lies and corruption.
There’s a part 3 coming, but the last two are edited really well and are pretty entertaining while also infuriating.
The first half of part 1 is actually pretty light hearted and funny because it was just about getting Legos back and before it turns into police conspiracy and gets really crazy

there was something extremely fishy about the way the original owner lost the store and how the new owner took it over.

The Civil Rights Lawyer video linked upthread says he is trying to get Ben’s case removed to federal court.
I figure he has a better shot at a fair trial if that happens.

Thank you. Good summary

A $400,000,000 corporation and an entire police department and criminal justice system is deciding to crash and burn over some Star Wars legos

Stupider things have happened.
If I were a franchisee getting shite from people over this and having to shut down social media under corporate dictate because of it, I’d be PISSED and looking to void my franchise agreement.

It's possible the franchise agreement allows for unilateral recapture if the Franchisee gives Franchisor notice that they intend to/wish to assign their franchise to another entity.

Ben's video makes AF seems like small town Utah. It is and it isn't. While the population is small, 30k, it's smack dab in the middle of Utah Country which has a population of roughly 750k people. It's a suburb of Provo and about 10 mins away from there. I think even getting into county or state/district court would be enough.

there is a small part of me that feels like there is a chance that we arent getting the whole story from Ben or from the Lego owners. anytime the entire internet dogpiles onto someone or some entity as a monolith and with such viciousness i'm immediately skeptical that all the facts are out there.
but on the face of it, Ben's side is pretty compelling

Lonnie, I don't know if you're LDS or not, but from your experience in Utah, what is it like to be in or out of that community?

I'm not LDS, but a high percentage of my neighbors are. All of my neighbors are great and I've never felt like an outsider because of where my family goes to church vs where their family goes to church.
I think Ben's claims about LDS folks protecting themselves are a little overblown, but not completely untrue. However, what I think is more true is a small town police department protecting one of their citizens from an outsider is a bigger factor here. Correltion =/= causation. About 80% of the population of Utah County (where AF is) is LDS. So your chances of interacting with LDS folks is high just based on that fact alone.

I’ve always heard that Utah is the fraud capital of the world. Any truth to that?

i think this is definitely true. i mean from the cops' perspective in real time, they are dealing with a bunch of out of state twenty-somethings running around with cameras making wilding accusations about stolen toys and robbing old dead people. when weighing that against an established local business run by older local business people, it's not unreasonable that they took the stance they did, especially early on.

No. But, I will say this. Utah county, where this takes place, is the Multi-Level Marketing Capitol of the USA, and most likely the world. I'll let you decide if that's Fraud or not...

this is actually a good take. the issue is of course the doubling down, then doubling down on the double down, then again and again…each time thinking it would make it go away but instead digging the whole deeper
the press conference from the chief if police is mind numbing, knowing he can just make up outright lies when there’s direct video evidence showing his lies and not even face questions on it.
saying they approving a SWAT raid because an Airbnb host allegedly heard discussions about legos? doubling down on the failed stop sign? doubling down on the redacted audio? doubling down and saying they arrested Ben because the store owner said he was going to kill him?
