I live across the street from a BREC park. Aside from them paying to have the grass mowed, I can’t see where they are spending any money there.
All that money and the Burbank complex still has unpaved parking lots and sh!tty a$$ bathrooms! Sad! And there should be a traffic light or paid traffic cops for every weekend/tournament games.

We must be neighbors

Do y’all have issues after dark?
Last time we had to call EBRSO we were told they can’t respond, they have to send a BREC ranger which never happened

At a minimum they should light up both entrance/exits. It’s very dangerous at night and only one exit is lit.

A BREC ranger. What a waste.

Then there is this, an article from 2020 showing that BREC superintendent Corey Wilson made more $$ than the mayor… so I’m sure he makes even more $$ a few years later….wow.

BREC superintendent gets pay increase

Wilson, who the board appointed in Feb. 2019 as superintendent of the city-parish's parks and recreation system, will now earn $187,000

They certainly can respond, they just choose not to. It’s sad when you call law enforcement (BRPD or EBRSO) and their immediate reaction is to try to pawn you off on someone else.

That is taxpayer money that was stolen & they should be prosecuted
They should be put to death.

I consider theft of taxpayer money to be on par with treason.

In around late 7os early 8os there was a big swept under-the rug embezzlement . There was around 1 paragraph in State Times, then crickets. I worked in the park system then.

I loathe BREC.

How is the superintendent and other leaders chosen? Because this is ridiculous and they should all be fired.

I believe he was chosen by the parish council. Could be wrong…. He’s an empty suit for sure…. Typical decision/accountability avoider. His future in politics is bright

I am curious to know if BREC asked them to not respond to small complaints / issues, I may be completely wrong since I don’t know how it’s recorded, I was thinking that if EBRSO doesn’t respond there is no record of the complaint to keep numbers down of issues in the park after dark

100%. Majority of their baseball fields are a joke.

I've heard Brec leaderships latest game is trying to figure out a way to legally move the Zoo foundation under their purview. That would then give them access to money dedicated for the zoo improvements to use elsewhere in the future.

Wouldn’t surprise me. It’s a win/win for the agencies.. BREC gets to keep things under wraps and EBRSO/BRPD get another set of addresses they don’t have to respond to.

Of course, it’s not a win for the public but why let that get in the way?

(To be clear, I have no idea whether that’s actually the reason. But again, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.)

Edited to correct my mistake.

I think you mean Oak Villa but you are correct. Insane they put all that money into that area for tournaments. No batting cages or restaurants or hotels nearby. Just threw money into an area for reasons.

BREC owns the Central Sports Complex but they had a powerful local politician help swing that. Unfortunately for the rest of the Parish ballparks.

I will give them some credit. They have made some good decisions with golf course closings. They need to look at all their "baseball fields" now.

They should have made Clark/Greenwood 18 holes with a driving range.

BREC has never done much for baseball. That’s one reason private leagues flourished at one time.

Putting a traffic light on a road that half the people treat as an interstate and the other half treat as a residential neighborhood road seems like a terrible idea. How about just building another entrance/exit not leading out to Burbank?
