Steal $67k. Return $21k. Not a bad gig.

IMO

They have WAY TOO MANY administrators/coordinators in their nice building on Florida Blvd and not enough out managing the parks.

Anyone who’s dealt with BREC will agree that the bureaucratic bloat is out of control.

How is the superintendent and other leaders chosen? Because this is ridiculous and they should all be fired.

I live across the street from a BREC park. Aside from them paying to have the grass mowed, I can’t see where they are spending any money there. I will be voting against the renewal.

If you really look at their facilities, they’re pretty ratty.

You do not have to look really close. It is visible from the street. Pisses me off

The article gave no specifics on the audit. How much money are they sitting on? How much is spent on upkeep and how much is spent on admin? How much is their real estate worth?

Where can they cut back, without feeling any pain, so the new tax can die, and a few of the old ones too?

Why was John Q Thief not charged? It is time to ask a few pertinent questions.

BREC is a pretty good park system.

EBR has pretty good libraries.

I still voted against every tax increase and renewal when I lived there because they could be just as good on half the budget if they got rid of the bloat.

I will vote NO on all of them.

The same for any tax renewals for Council on Aging, CATS or the EBR Library system.

No it isn’t.
We have the shittiest soccer and baseball fields in the area by a large amount, despite probably having a ton more money than our neighbors.

The parks in Lafayette are so much nicer than ours. It’s embarrassing. We had a bunch of soccer players from a third world country refuse to play at one of Brecs fields b/c it was so shitty.

I have no idea where they spend all their money, but it’s obvious it’s being wasted.

I don’t want to vote on taxes for it. I want to vote on the director.

BREC has tens of millions of dollars in the bank.

It's time to reduce the millage.

brec is too big and owns too much parish land. It should have to sell half of what it owns then they can manage it better.

BREC is a disaster. Our park system is atrocious.

But EBR voters will still renew and add new millages whenever given the chance.

Because most of them don't actually own property

When the folks that vote for a living, outnumber the folks that work for a living, this is the end result.
The BREC tax vote would come up at every vote. When it finally passed, BREC didn't know what to do. They went out and bought a bunch of new vehicles.

Catholic High was willing to do a private partnership with brec to get memorial upgrades and brec said no

Brec has plans to renovate both memorial and goldsby with a connecting Pathway from both stadiums
Hopefully it gets done and the money is already available
