Went to the observation deck the other day, supposedly going to be shut down (the observation deck) for ~5 years or so for renovations
That doesn't even seem possible or worth the money. It's fine how it is.

It's very important that we spend millions of dollars on the building where our government goes to frick us.
Of everything fricked with the state, it’s hard to walk in the state Capitol and not be proud. It’s a beautiful building, walking up all the steps with every states name on them in the order they were unionized. Walking into the beautiful atrium with brass and marble everywhere and beautiful paintings, the huge chambers, the pencil in the roof from the senate bombings, the bullet holes in the wall from when Huey and gang got merk’d, the observation deck and trying to find your home while taking in gorgeous views of the river, LSU and Exxon (lol), the architecture. I haven’t been to many other state capitols but ours sure does seem special and I am certainly glad they are taking care of it.

Couldn't a fleet of those pressure washing drones with AI do this in a month?
From what I have read, the exterior of the building has limestone, which cannot be pressure washed. That’s why they’re taking the different tiles off and chemically treating them.

It is expected to total $113.9 million, according to Louisiana’s construction plan.
Give me a pressure washer and I harness and I will have the job done in six months.
Then I would retire.

Be a lot cheaper to buy 15 triple wides and stack them. If you cross stack them you can go 5 high.

The tiny portion of the job we quoted (didn't get the work) had nothing to do with cleaning and was over a million $. Gov't job, 27 stories up, historical building, asbestos everywhere.....it checks pretty much every box in the cost over run chart

Its not being washed, they're just covering it with a billboard

Scotchbrite pads and some Dawn dishwashing soap should work.

Even constructing a brand new building shouldnt cost this much.
No…no no no. Constructing a new building, that will undoubtedly look like some shipping container modernist bullshite, would be the worst thing the state could do. The capitol is the most iconic building in the state (other than the Westbank Holiday Inn) and maybe the most unique capitol in the country. Of all the ways that state can piss money away, this isn’t one of them. Pay to do it right.

It doesn’t seem that tall from the ground but once you’re up there…holy shite. The views are awesome though

Don't you start upper first and work down?
