No, he doesn't. There is no such thing as a "fair market price" in an industry completely controlled by government regulation.

Anybody who thinks that capitalism is the cause of high gas prices is either crazy or dumb AF.

He isn't very smart. Whether the price is "fair" is exactly what is up for debate.

I think it's reasonable for people to be upset, especially when the leader of the free world says he will destroy oil companies. Maybe that has something to do with it...

refining capacity
low inventories

gov regulations suppress these.

high demand is only a problem because of inventory so thats not really a 'problem' theyre 2 sides of the same coin.

war

if we didnt strongly support fund and arm ukraine the war may be over already. inventory and demand would be improved

Someone should tell him that free markets don’t put mass restrictions on one of the worlds biggest oil producers and drive prices through the roof.

Besides, in true capitalism green energy would win out if it was the better product. It’s not and is being forced on us by government action.

He’s saying the big bad oil companies aren’t to blame for the high gas prices.

Is that not true?

It’s one of the most regulated industries. The party in power has campaigned for several years on transitioning away from oil and gas. That party then acts surprised when the majors aren’t investing a ton of money in technologies to get the cost of producing a barrel of oil as low as possible.
