Brawl breaks out at Fort Lauderdale Airport after Spirit Airlines cancels flight

Sheriff's reports released Tuesday say about 500 people were in the Spirit terminal late Monday night when Desmond Waul, 22, of Selden and Janice Waul, 24, and Davante Garrett, 24, both of Brentwood, were seen by deputies threatening the airline's front counter employees. Deputies say their actions caused the crowd to become increasingly aggressive to the point of near violence and that they wouldn't leave when ordered. The three are charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing. They were being held Tuesday at the Broward jail in lieu of $10,000 bond each. Records do not show if they have attorneys.

Just once....just fricking once, I wanna be somewhere where something like this happens so I can yell things like "worldstar" and "he sleep"

Spirit seems to do a lot of cancelling. I have a buddy whose flight from NOLA to Vegas was cancelled Friday. He ended up flying out Saturday on American.

This exact same thing happened at the exact same airport when I was present.
My wife roped me into a quick trip with some friends through Spirit. While on the plane at MSY, we get an email saying our connecting flight is cancelled. We talk to the stewardess who calls the gate that says that is an error and its going. I wanted to get off the plane anyway but we get to FLL at 11PM and our connecting flight is cancelled, along with 8-9 others.
Pandemonium, 3-4 hours just to get to the front of the line for them to tell you they will help you in NO WAY whatsoever. 100s and 100s of People screaming, crying, telling people they've been stuck there for 2 days etc etc.
We got out of line, booked another flight out of Miami on a different airline, took a taxi to Miami airport, spent the night in the airport, had to fly to a different airport and then drive an hour to our actual destination. Lost about 9 hours of a quick trip.
Will NEVER fly Spirit again. EVER. Totally miserable experience.

Par for the course. Spirit is hands down the worst airline I have ever had the displeasure to deal with. They'll cancel for almost any reason, not add flights to accommodate displaced passengers, won't rebook you on another airline. You might get a refund of the $6 you spent on the flight.

Since they are such a budget airline, I assume they cut costs whenever possible. That includes canceling flights that aren't fully booked or having planes going to a connection with another flight that isn't fully booked

Wow it gets you to your destination, who gives a shite how you look in the air?
Saying that, I avoid spirit mainly because I get better perks on better airlines for cheaper :)

I've done that a couple of times for small fights outside of bars. Pretty rewarding feeling to be honest.
