Lately I've started to notice a big uptick in people with shitty modded vehicles that includes their brake lights. Stuff like flashing a pattern every time they brake, darkened/tinted panels, the LEDs lighting up in a sequence, etc.

Not to sound like a Karen, but surely mods like that are illegal?

Ford Mustangs and plenty of Audis do this from the factory.

Around me, I'm just thankful the rednecks have functioning car lights.

Meh

The real issue is headlights being so absurdly bright

I actually think the brake lights that rapidly blink when you slam on the brakes are smart. You can tell if it’s normal braking or a very sudden braking.

Yes, and at night the blinking creates a clear differentiation between braking/turning and just tail lights.

You’d get conditioned to the blinking. so dumb

I've actually started noticing this one. I was behind a truck the other day that I could barely see any brake light through the tint. It was daytime and the sun was shining on it. The truck might as well not have had brake lights.

The new F250/350's brake lights automatically illuminate when the driver takes his foot off the throttle. So have fun with that Karen

Just on the turn signal, and they're really just a sequence of individual flashes rather than the whole light flashing at once.

It'd be one thing if it was just a flash for hard braking, and if that was standard. I'm talking about shite like this:

The ones I’ve seen blink every time the driver brakes (even if they just barely tap them to slow down).

Are there versions that only blink when the driver slams on the brakes? Seems like that would have to be installed from the factory (or tied into the OBD port) to work.

Regardless, this is way at the bottom of my list of aftermarket shite to bitch about. If we could get rid of loud arse pipes and super bright/misaligned headlights on the other hand..

If that entire animation starts when the driver hits the brake pedal then yeah.. that should be illegal. Can’t say I’ve ever seen anything quite that obnoxious.

At a minimum the top brake light should illuminate immediately.

I think these are beneficial. The Mustang and Audi flashes are unique. They stand out and draw the attention of other drivers, but they are not distracting.
