Gonna go out on a limb and say the problem is
1. Discounted house
2. 9th ward people not properly taking care of anything

And I bet these people didnt do shite to maintain these homes. 100% chance of that.

It wouldn't matter if he'd made them out of concrete & rebar- it was a given some were going to get effed up.

Reminds me of the New Orleans episode of Top Gear.
"The lady in New Orleans we gave the car to, for free, is suing us for $20,000 because it wasn't a real Z28. "
"On that note, don't visit the USA, YOU will get sued"

So 11 year old homes shouldn't need maintenance or upkeep?
The contractors cut a lot of corners that an inspector should have noticed.

This isn't the first story about these houses numbnuts. I know it's against OT standards to do a little extra research and excercise critical thinking but maybe you can do better.

Yes, I remember a thread about 3 years ago.

Mildew stains? It is NOLA. Freaking 24/7/365 humidity will blow that stuff up. Get a pressure washer on it at least every year.
Mildew INSIDE the house because the faulty flat roof design leaked? Rotting facia because the deck/porch frame members were bolted to the house in such a way that moisture had a path to the interior structure? Let's see you power wash those issues...

A new wooden deck shouldn't sag or become covered with mildew stains in 2 years.
If you do not treat it and do basic maintenance on it in this area, it will have issues 13 years later.

Working with a building material supplier I was involved in bidding on the framing materials used for these homes. All the framing lumber we were bidding included having them sent to a specialty chemical coating supplier that is lifetime warrantied against mold & mildew and like 50 yr insect resistance. I did not win the bid, it went to a larger supplier out of Alabama but I heard they only used it on about half and then stopped to reduce cost.
So they built them with normal treated lumber like almost every other house in existence?

anyone remember the Top Gear trip across the southeast episode?
at the end they ended up in post-katrina New Orleans and gave away one of the cars to a 'family in need' who immediately turned around and sued them because of an issue the car had afteward.
