if that figure is correct then is that something like 20% of the people in Baton Rouge have a warrant out on them?
Make this make sense.

Well then that means there’s plenty to work with for Jeff’s team of feds doing warrant sweeps.
Remember when he got up there and promised that during his presser?
Still waiting Jeff

The warrants for gun crime stuff need to be resolved ASAP
Those are the POSs that are the biggest priority

The same people have multiple warrants
I posted this on poliboard
Quote from the chief constable on why so many
The pandemic hit, then we had a storm that hit, then we had a snowstorm, so it seemed like every time we wanted to get to the warrants, it was always something going on,” Williams said.”

I'm guessing half are for missing court dates for traffic violations and things like that. I've accidentally done that and had a bench warrant.
They need to filter this for things involving guns, violence, etc. and go knock down doors. Get the feds or national guard involved.

Each count is one warrant.
I’m assuming NBR has some individuals who have triple digit warrants out for them.

Traffic/red light camera tickets.

Beginning on Monday, deputy constables, along with neighboring agencies in possession of Baton Rouge city court warrants, will begin picking up residents with outstanding warrants. The initiative will last until Thursday.
...
The goal of the pick-ups is to get people through the court system faster, so residents won't have to sit in jail for minor offenses and pay extra fees.
...
Most times it's traffic tickets, seat belt tickets, speeding tickets, no insurance, misdemeanor stuff, domestic violence warrants," she said.
...
Of her 43 deputy constable positions slotted for the department, only 28 are filled
I'm no math wizard, but I don't think 28 constables are going to be able to pick up 100,000 people by Thursday.

Have you been around town? I'd say that's low.

Quibble,
Driving without insurance affects more people than some of the other misdemeanors. It affects all of our insurance rates not to mention when they are the cause of a wreck.

tracking down warrants is what they've been doing in Memphis, charging anyone they can with federal crimes...the guys charged locally are still be released

Those perps probably have multiple warrants each.
Regardless, it's unacceptable and Landry should start threatening to withhold funding.

I think there's probbbbably some repeat offenders in there.

The Constable that cried racism when Sid announced pay raises for BRPD but not her office?
Sounds like they haven’t been doing their jobs, imagine that.

Absolutely absurd that she said this with a straight face.

Should "domestic violence" warrants be included in the same trivial manner as traffic tickets and seat belt tickets?

If their constable head count is supposed to be at 43 - according to their budget and only have 28. (65%) AND they're getting paid less than their BRPD neighbors, I can guarantee you the DGAF level is HIGH in that department. Especially if there's an extreme lack of leadership to turn it around.
They'll never get to all 100,000 warrants even if they had 100 officers. Surely some of the lesser offenses can be automated out of the judicial system.
