To insure honesty and integrity would you get involved for SG if you believed they had a sound plan, a genuine budget, and good leadership?

Don't hold your breath...although I'm confident that Sharon Broome will eventually convince a lot more to either leave the area or incorporate.

I volunteered gathering signatures, I can tell you as a matter of fact that if you were approached in a parking lot at Wal-Mart, you were approached by one of a group of paid petitioners recruited to help gather signatures. They got overly ambitious and this resulted in them gathering signatures like yours. When it was discovered what was going on, they were fired. Unfortunately the damage was done. Lessons learned.

Nah, just the 2. Used my wife's to rustle your feathers.
Weren't all three banned at one time? Or was it just two of them banned by the admins?

No, just 2. Total. You're still an angry man. Do you need a hug?

BR Business Report: Broome is making the case for St. George
I'm honestly shocked that came from anyone at the Business Report. They supported Broome and seem to look the other way when she screws up. I don't think they are a trustworthy source on local politics.

I understand some in SG (paid or whatever) screwed up, but when we see the rampant corruption going on at City Hall right now it's hard for me to believe a big problem with SG is a lack of public trust.
Sure, no pol can be trusted, but come on; we're seeing promises broken every day at City Hall and at the EBRSB office.
Broome's administration is terrible, and Drake hasn't come close to delivering on promises he's made.
Both are wanting more taxes or tax renewals and I'm voting no and no.

If they produce an accurate ("honest") plan and budget, it won't ever get the signatures they need because the first thing they'll have to disclose is a new city and new school district will need higher taxes to be levied in order to operate.

You're guessing here, but you may be right.
But look at what we know now. By remaining in the EBRSS all votes are based on the majority of what voters in that district wants as it applies to schools.
I'm thinking there will be plenty of votes there to raise property taxes next go round. You'll either be taxed for SG or taxed for EBR and I'm thinking that you might not like the way EBR is going to spend your tax money.

She's a product of the political environment in Baton Rouge in 2016.
Based on recent trends of having a manufactured "wedge issue" the summer before every major election the past decade, I expected the media and political insiders to exploit at least one local issue somewhere in the US last year.
I'm fricking furious that Baton Rouge was the sacrificial lamb this time around.

nah it's just making the case for people to up and move out of BR. Which is happening in droves.
But then they complain about the traffic and somehow EBR needs to be taxed to pay for it...

IMO the worst, most neglected routes in the area are federal highways.

I didn't sign the petition last time. I'll be one of the first to sign this time.

The EBRSS is not a good school system, and that forced people to either move out of the parish, or to get their kids in private schools.
As a result we have way more commuters driving in from neighboring parishes to shop and work, and we have way more families driving their kids to school across neighborhoods and across town to get to school.
Even the magnet schools factor in on the traffic and exacerbate it as parents bring their kids to school or put them on a long bus ride to the "better" schools.
Our traffic problem is more than just about traffic, it's about how we send our kids to school.

If they want to run the city, then they can have it. Adios.

If the area for incorporation is a large area with little or no identifiable characteristics I will oppose it.
They did this because if they had just cherry-picked which areas to incorporate, they would have been accused of racism. The sad thing was they were accused of this anyways. They simply offered to incorporate all of the presently unincorporated land south of the city. Apparently that was racist.
The original ISD was the land between I-10, I-12, the Amite, and Bayou Manchac. That was deemed to be racist.
There is no winning with people like you. No matter what they propose, you will nitpick it apart to find the flaws.
