They did this because if they had just cherry-picked which areas to incorporate, they would have been accused of racism. The sad thing was they were accused of this anyways. They simply offered to incorporate all of the presently unincorporated land south of the city. Apparently that was racist.

Kingbob gets it.

So, it makes sense to make a renewed proposal only seeking to incorporate the areas of highest support from the previous drive. Again, since the grubby hands of BR have tried to defund that area that could become St George, it will make for a tougher budget this go round.
I do disagree with the claim that their budget was a lie last time. It was high level, but they were proposing a pretty bare-bones structure to meet what the state considers a city. And with the tax base they would have had prior to slimy Kip doing forced annexations of the hospital, mall and casino, it would have been more than enough. Maybe not for the full ISD, but as Russian said that wasn't on the table yet anyway.

First of all, who reads the BR Business Report or 225? Most of that shite is paid advertising. Their articles are either puff pieces or some company that paid for a piece. Enjoy wasting your time.

Second, if Rolfe only endorsed Broome because of some family ties then he doesn't deserve a pass. That guy is a has been and nobody gives two shits what he thinks. I've never heard someone say Rolfe endorsed Broome and that changed a vote.

Finally, Baton Rouge is at a crossroads. It will either die a slow death in the next 10 years or it will slowly improve. The slow death will happen by an increase in violence which would include sustaining the current level or increasing it and the tax base moving out of the parish. Currently, there are some older people who are retired or close to retirement who are willing to wait it out in hopes of BR turning it around. As soon as the violence gets close to their homestead they are getting out. If St. George or something similar does not manifest itself in the next year then all hope is lost of actually keeping the middle class tax base that isn't close to retirement within the parish. What will end up happening is people will be taxed out of their houses. When you start paying $10k in property taxes and you have shitty roads and schools, people aren't going to be happy. Scream racists all you want but nobody likes being fleeced. The only way parish survives is by creating a small city in the southern portion of the parish and creating a new school district. Those people are willing to pay more for better schools and better roads. However, they won't accept the status quo.

Edited to delete it. Not worth it for me to have typed or for anyone to have read. It’s pointless. Nobody is going to have an opinion changed here.

I respect your reasoning. There are altruistic people out there. They will attack anyone because that's their nature. Keep fighting the good fight.
