They should just merge the boys/girl scouts of america, just rebrand it Scouts of American. No reason to have "boy" or "girl" on the name. Just be Scouts.

We may end up with Scouts of America... but no merger. Merger implies the GSUSA would have some influence in this entity. No thanks. I don't want anyone who is involved in GSUSA administration anywhere near the BSA.

Whatever they have to do. There is no point in calling yourself Boy Scouts of America if you have girls in there. Just call yourself Scouts and bam problem solved.

The Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts are two completely different organizations with two different agendas. No way these two merge. The BSA may put the Girl Scouts out of business in the end. Mainly because they can offer a family the ability to have all of their kids participate in one group/club/activity. At least when the kids are really young (Cub Scouts) this is probably not a big deal. It's when you get to the point of kids going through puberty and all that comes with boys and girls being different that you start running into trouble. The real issue that no one is talking about started a couple of years back when the BSA decided that it would allow the LGBT community to be involved by allowing gay kids and thus gay/lesbian leadership. I couldn't support the organization any longer. It started out as an organization supported in majority by Christian Churches in this country. That support is eroding quickly. Thus this move to allow girls into the BSA. It's about money because they have a large structure to support with a declining membership base.

Also your thread title is misleading. The BSA controls the Cub Scouts. They are allowing girls in Cub Scouts not Boy Scouts.

To put it simply, women are still on a path of self-destruction.
They are removing quickly the one thing they hold over men.

I was never a Boy Scout and know absolutely nothing about it, but what about the Girl Scout? Are they just merging the two, I don't get it.

They are separate orgs. In fact, they are probably pissed as hell about this.
Girl Scouts is a fricking joke.
Boy Scouts is only doing this because they need more money.
Apparently the dens will still be separate, but we all know that won't last. Sucks because I enjoy having my kid go somewhere and to be able to just hang out and do stuff with other boys, but eventually BSA won't provide that any longer.

I think women should have the same opportunities as men, get paid the same as men, etc. I am not at all a sexist, but I don't understand this one. There are the boy scouts and then the girl scouts.

I went to public school so that might have something to do with it, but if you were a boy scout or something you got picked on.

The BSA has run the Venturing program for over 10 years and that's coed. Older kids though.

Girl Scouts don't do shite other then make useless junk and stuff cocaine into their cookies.
