HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a 6-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a pitbull on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies said they shot and killed the dog to get to the child but it was too late to save his life. Deputies said the call came in around 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The attacked happened on Piney Ridge Drive at the dog owner's property, according to deputies.

The child was staying at his grandparents home next door to the dog owner's property, according to deputies.

A 911 call from the boy's mother said she went inside to use the restroom for five minutes and came out to find him lying in the neighbor's yard. The boy's mother said her son played with the dog and the dog was familiar with him, according to the call.

The mother told dispatchers she didn't think her son was breathing and that he was not responding when she called out to him, according to the call. She also told dispatchers that the neighbor's gate was locked and she could not get inside their yard, according to the call.

The mother told dispatchers her son and other kids climbed the fence frequently and that the home owner's were not home, according to the 911 call.

SIAP. I google searched.

In before some fricking idiots say something about the kid being in the dogs territory and blaming the parent.

My golden retriever wouldn't do this shite.

Sad story.

I don't understand why anyone would allow a kid to climb a fence and trespass in a yard. Especially a yard with a dog.

Hmm lets see.

Parent not paying attention to kid...
Check

Kid trespassing...
Check

Parent knows kid trespasses on regular basis and does nothing about it...
Check

Sounds like shitty parenting to me. Yes it's sad the kid died but being a sad story doesn't absolve the kid and parent from blame

We are assuming the article is even correct. My wife is a veterinarian who interned at an animal control facility. She will tell you that very rarely (as in almost never) did any of the pit bulls quarantined for attacking humans, actually turn out to be pit bulls. She is a large animal vet now but when she was working with small animals she says never once did she have a problem with a pit on her examination table.

without a picture of the animal, we have no way of knowing. Might have been an AK47 or an assault dog.

So her 6 year old could get in but she couldn't to save his life?

You know there can be more than one party at fault, right?

I think the dogs are very dangerous, but the mom deserves a lot of the blame.
