Probably wasn't a pit bull. They are misunderstood. Why did the mom go to the bathroom and leave the 6 year old unattended? Why was the child staying at his grandparents' house? So the kid climbed a fence? Well... And they shot the poor dog?

frick those dogs.

I have a great aunt who was killed by two pitbulls. I wish they would be outlawed and anyone found to be owning one given a misdemeanor conviction.

I smile every time I hear of one getting shot or put to sleep.

Who lets their 6 year old routinely play with their neighbor's pit bull unsupervised?

It's a little suspicious that in the "5 minutes" she was away the poor kid climbed the fence and got killed. It's a tragedy nonetheless.

Interesting outlook. What about other breeds that have killed people. Should they be banned as well? Or is your personal vendetta the most important?

Sad, but nothing to see here

Call me irrational, but my BIL's GF has a pitbull, and I told my wife flat out that we are never taking our kids over to her house to visit, regardless of how harmless they say that dog is. I know other dogs have killed too, but my boy isn't going to be a part of those "out of nowhere the dog" stories.

Numbers don't lie. Don't be a blind fool.

Are you discounting his experience because you think pit-bulls are cool? What is the harm in eradicating a breed that we created? Dogs serve people. They exist only because we allow them to. Please provide an argument as to why this excessively aggressive breed should be allowed to continue.

This is the most WTF part of the story. Her 6 year old could climb the fence and get in the yard, but she couldn't get to him to try and save his life? I'm sorry but I'm not looking through a fence at my child who has been gravely injured and just sitting back and calling 911 and waiting. I'm getting to my child.

Well, if we eliminated the top 3 that would be a good start.
Pits, Rots, and..... We wouldn't want to piss off the white trash and hood rats though, would we?

A dog killed a child. It didn't bite a child. It killed a child. Pits do that. Not labs. Not even mastiffs. Pits kill children.

I personally agree. There's far too many of these attacks where the dog had always been "gentile" then one day suddenly snapped and killed a kid.

shite did happen. Now her kid is dead.

No, I didn't regularly trespass as a kid. My parents would discipline me if I did.

She probably weighs 290. Her kids were living with the grandparents. Do the math. But if the a-hole neighbors didn't have a fricking time bomb with teeth, to be cool, this would not have happened.

Whatever. At least I'm being proactive and not putting my kids in a bad situation. I won't live the rest of my life wondering "what if".

Absolutely. So much that I'm sick of reading about it.
