or you could call her and tell her yourself and while you’re at it, let her know you’re stuck in the goddamn van.

You think he would have called his mom when he told the operator "If I die here tell my mom I love her"

Does anyone else here get pissed at dispatchers when listening to 911 calls after a high profile incident? It’s like they are bothered you interrupted their card game or something.

How in the hell does that happen

I'm not sure honestly. I think he was folded under the seat. Some of the newer minivans have seats that fold into the floor.

This was a 2002 Honda Odyssey. The third row seat flips back and into the floor in front of the rear hatch. If it flipped him backwards, he could have been trapped in it and it would have blocked people from seeing him from the outside.

Awful. That animation clears a few things up. Poor kid.

As awful as this is, I can only imagine the new “safety features” that manufacturers will add because of this one freak occurrence. Folding the seat will now be a nine step process with four separate things to push or pull.

Another vehicle death in a school area. When are we going to address the elephant in the room and have vehicle control. We need a wide net vehicle confiscation program with a full banning of all vehicles.

In all seriousness, the kid was probably trapped under the seat with the release being on top of the seat out of reach. Im curious what they were doing in the minivan and why didn't he call a parent or friend to come unlatch the seat?

Honda Odyssey seating is not so plush apparently.

That's the result of getting hundreds of non-emergencies and/or prank calls every day.

Their job sucks. Bad.

But no excuse in this case. The operator is really fricked. Completely and intentionally did not fulfill her responsibilities. Kid would probably still be alive.

Mine too. That onstar shite doesn’t make sense. Someone familiar with the Odyssey care to explain?

I figured it was voice activated. I've never had it so I wouldn't know.

I know you think you're being funny, but the comparison isn't valid.

Vehicles are a necessity for our society to run. Semi-automatic rifles are not.

Does a 2002 vehicle have voice-activated OnStar? Our older vehicles required an accident or for you to hit a button.

without getting political, one is a right and the other is a privilege though.
