Here is how they say it happened.

I wish it was an actual animated gif or something. This is some 1000 Ways to Die shite.

So why not use it to call his dad?

I'm not understanding how he could get calls out to 911, but not to anyone who could save him. Hell, Onstar could've just called his dad if it was indeed them

Really curious how an officer looking in the windows could not see this boy.

I doubt they even did that. Probably just drove through the parking lot and that was that.

I'm not sure of the logistics with this, but if he died due to chest compression then it must have had some automatic mechanism or something.

I don't believe the 2002s had that feature......

One of the original articles I read said he used Siri to call 911.

Yeah, that's believable, but you could call other people with Siri too. I can't imagine sitting there for 30 minutes between calls.

Mine too. That onstar shite doesn’t make sense. Someone familiar with the Odyssey care to explain?

I thought OnStar was a GM feature? Lots of late-model vehicles now have their own versions of this feature, but a 2002 Ody definitely did not. Aftermarket add-on, maybe?

I can't figure out how a minivan seat can crush a 16 yr old boy.

The first person I'd call would be the person with the keys, not the cops

Nope, I bet you're right there. Somebody posted an animation a bit after my post. The kid reached into the back over the seat, the seat flipped with him, and he ended up wedged between the top of the seat and the back of the car. Crazy.

How is this even possible? I can’t figure out the logistics

Maybe it's a possessed car like Christine?

I’m guessing he realized pretty quickly how much trouble he was in so he called 911 because he thought they’d get there the quickest.

Instead of opening the hatch and grabbing his gear like every other person on earth would do.

*insert low-effort Millennial joke here even though the kid isn't a Millennial*

fricking police are lazy pieces of shite. Dumb duck is too stupid to go inside school and ask if student is in class? How about calling the fricking parents and getting plate #?

Motherfricker I want to drive there and beat that cop till he cant breath and dies the same way!

Seriously, these stupid motherfrickers shoot sleeping people on no knock wrong addresses but when it's time to do their real job and protect children, he couldn't wait to get back to his coffee before it got cold.

The ONLY time these frickers perform is when THEY are in danger, not us!

I can't imagine how upset, and enraged, his parents might be losing their son this way.

- Freak situation
- Very unpleasant way to go
- Kid actually managed to put a call in, so it was capable of being avoided.
- Cops not following through correctly

Just tragic. It would have been so much less difficult to cope with if you didn't have to know the kid made the call and had a chance to get out with a little help.
