According to Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac, the information about the make and model of the vehicle was not relayed to the responding officers because the “dispatcher did not communicate with the caller.”

That 911 operator is so fricked.

I have a 2017 grand caravan, but the stow and go seating in mine is all manual, does Odyessy's have a button to do it?

Seems like that would be pretty hard to do

Either way, how did he get it closed on himself?

The seats would fold in half towards the front of the car and then you would pull a latch to have the entire seat basically flip 180 into the luggage area which was about 12" lower than the walking carpet.

You can only do this from the rear of the car.

Being unable to move and crushed is the stuff of nightmares for sure. I could not watch that James Franco movie where he had to cut off his arm after getting stuck between two boulders.

I can’t think of a worse way to go. I can only assume he misplaced something and was on knees looking for it in back seats.

News said he was kneeling on the 3rd row seat trying to get his tennis gear from the trunk and it flipped over and he was trapped upside down with it pushing down on his chest.

Phone was in his pocket so he could reach it.

what was he doing back there?

I read somewhere last night that he reportedly went to the car to get his tennis equipment. He was probably searching for something while lying on or behind the seat and pulled the seat release.

ETA- Caterpillar beat me to it

That sounds like a major design flaw or possibly a defect in the seat mechanism. I can't believe this hasn't happened before with all the minivans on the road.

Agreed. It takes basically two different latches moving in two opposite directions to have them do this. Now if the seats were already folded and the latch wasn't set when he was kneeling on them then it could have swung when he transferred his weight to the rear side.

How was he so unable to move that he could make phone calls? Why didn't he just call his dad? This doesn't even seem like a real story

He couldn't reach his phone, he used the OnStar in the vehicle to call 911.
