This is so tragic. :(
when I was reading about it last night, someone said the way he was pinned reminded them of the Nutty Putty Cave Death, and that sent me into one of the worst internet click holes I've ever been on in my life.

The article I read had the kid's 911 call transcripts. He described the vehicle correctly but NEVER said he was trapped in the third seat at the back.
The police went to the vehicle twice, looked in, and didn't see anything or anyone.
IF the kid had thought clearly, the police might have realized that there was a third row of seats in that vehicle. They may have only seen the floor boards of the seat backs and assumed that the 911s were crank calls.

Dang first I've seen of this. Surprised they didn't bang on the car and hear the kid in there? Its a minivan, the cops would know there is a 3rd row of seats.
Just a bad luck situation all around though.
Really surprised that dispatch didn't trace his call, not sure on the accuracy of that but seems like the key that would have likely saved his life.
Also, if the police truly went to a gold van. I'm surprised they didn't trace the plates and contact the parents whom I assumed owned the vehicle as the kid was 16.
