You are right. His micro-aggression caused me to retreat to my safe space; Starbucks. I'm here blogging about my safety razor while drinking a venti soy latte.

His ol lady appreciates my manscaping.. she also loves my flannel shirt collection that's accentuated by my short khaki shorts.

Hold on....I thought hipsters had beards? How can they have beards, and be known to use safety razors?
I started using one because I was cheap. $30 for a merkur, $15 for some shave cream, $10 for blades. Lasted me a year easily. Since then, I've bought blades like twice. I never buy shaving equipment. When before, it was like $15 a month for cartridges. I personally don't think the shave is that much better (although if you work at it you can get closer than with a cartridge). It's just faster if you let yourself go all weekend, and sooo much cheaper in the long run.

Is that what all the Sheep are wearing? Why don't you just develop your own style and go with it, bun boy. Let some homo from Hollywood tell you what is 'in'.

This thread is nothing more than hipster bullshite. Use the safety razor, twirl your man bun, and teach your children that old school is always best. The styptic pencil industry loves you.
You damn fig. What in the damn hell are you talking about?
I used to be like you, then after my fellow Plant Operators started talking to me about safety razors, I took the plunge. For the record, I don't have truck nuts but do have a Duramax diesel pickup.
Not gonna lie, I was more interested in the savings aspect (100 blades for $10-$25) of it all, at first. Now, I'm not too sure I'm not more in love with my badger brush and shaving puck soap. Safety razors and shave soap FTW.

What soap/cream do y'all use? I shave in shower so would all this still work?

Classic barbershop talcum powder scent.
I use a Gillette Fatboy with Persona blades. The soap puck always varies (currently using Fine soap) , but I follow up with a Bay Rum splash.

I use a Merkur handle and Merkur blades...badger brush and Proraso white (but have all 3 colors) of soap.
Love the way Proraso soap lathers up.
I shave in the shower (that way I know my face is wet throughout the shave).
I do two cuts...One with the grain and the finish is across the grain. Ultra smooth and lasts.
I'm done with multi blade razors. Gave my Sensor to my wife for her use.

I've only one used brand, but love it. Smells great also. Reminds me of a barber shop smell. At the rate I'm going, the puck should last me close to a year. Here's what I use: Shave Soap

I can buy a puck of Williams soap for $1.19 at Rouse's. Cheaper on Amazon.
I alternate this with Proraso Red pre-shave cream and soap, or Lather& Wood pre-shave oil and soap. Lather & Wood is a tallow based soap. It's a sandalwood scent.

Alright good deal. Do y'all keep the puck, mug, and brush in shower?

I still don't what it was about men's shaving razors that triggered Sody Cracker so much.
For me, the safety razor gives a better, cleaner, and closer shave. Plus I will be shaving money. Instead of spending 15 or so bucks on cartridges each month, I will spend anywhere from 8 to 18 dollars on a pack of 100 blades. Those will last me long time. I'll be saving a decent amount of money.
Plus, safety razors are so much easier to clean. That will help them keep longer.

I was recommended not to use safety razor to shave my head. Would y'all agree with that?

Pull, not with your hands, your upper lip down tighter.
Now why didn't I think of that....
Of course I tried that. The width of the safety razor head just doesn't work with the geometry of my nose/upper lip area. I nick that spot right in the crux between nose and lip about half of the time I use the safety razor.
I switched back to disposables. They work fine. I get inexpensive ones and each one will last 2-3 weeks.
