The solution is obvious. Apply for the job and ask for a salary commiserate with the pain of the job even if that number seems ridiculous to you. It'll be yes, no, or why at which time you can explain the stress of the job.

'Ah, ah, I almost forgot....I'm also going to need you to go ahead and come in on Sunday, too. We, uhhh, lost some people this week and we sorta need to play catch-up. Mmmmmkay? Thaaaaaanks.'

If you frick her now it’s not sexual harassment.

Either apply for the job or prepare to move on to a different job. The lack of ambition to promote, regardless of having justifiable reasons, is pretty telling to your employer.

Which is such a bullshite mentality.

They wont trust me on this. They will wait until the last minute and bring someone in to fill the position. Most places do not want to pay two salaries for a position even if it is a short amount of time. Either way you are going to be training someone to be your boss.

Not everyone aspires to be a manager/director etc. At my company those people spend almost 100% of their day in mostly pointless meetings.

Apply for the job. In the interview say that the only way you'd be interested in accepting is if systematic changes were made to processes that made the position less stressful and all of that. That way you applied and if you get the job, hopefully it won't be as bad as it was for your predecessor. And if you don't, then you don't have to deal with the stress.
This is all predicated on whether the issues with the job are in fact fixable. If they aren't, then just don't apply. But if they aren't actually fixable, it may just be time to look elsewhere

My boss just told me some other managers got together expressing their concern over her leaving and they got approval from a senior management member to post the job early - so yeah they're going to do that for a couple months. By the time it's posted and interviews close and whoever takes it gives their two weeks they would only have like 1 month to train.
Edit: So yeah I've at least just expressed my concerns to my boss and she completely understands.

Seems like a great time to be looking elsewhere.

I definitely agree. I didn't take this job wanting to be the director of my area within 3 years. I'm a millennial... I definitely don't job hop but don't think I've had a job longer than 3-4 years before. Never had a job where I stayed less than 2 years either I'm pretty sure.

You take the job because if you don’t then they’ll either promote someone over you or bring in an outside person and your life could be miserable.

^^^ this. Your new boss may be an arse. Take the job, and make your team shine. Don't be the laughing stock, anymore. If you think your team is weak, take the job, and use it to self promote to a new employer.

Be a man and ask for more money? Provide support to why you would be worth it?
