State of mind stuff. Feeling powerful comes in so many forms.

Three things that help me reach belly-laugh the fastest:

1. Watching a baby belly laugh
2. Eddie Murphy’s Raw
3. Beauty pageant talent portion

A very close 4:
4. Pretentious people commanding their situation

To each their own. Enjoy your life the way you want! Of course… When I read this and think of of my life enjoyment priorities, deciphering tannin levels of wine falls between priorities: 345. Understanding Barnacle taxonomy 347. Betsy Ross sewing hacks Kidding! Tannin away.

If you take a sip of wine and it makes your mouth and tongue “feel dry”, it’s highly tannic. You can get the same sensation from over-steeped teas. Congratulations, you can now “decipher tannin levels of wine (and tea)”. Not only is the shite not complicated, but knowing whether that’s a quality you find unpleasant would be useful information, n’est-ce pas?

We went through one of these in Northern California, some old bitty said to me "you aren't even tasting it".

No shite bitch, I don't like wine but I can get a free buzz.

I have a pineapple story I'll relate to this esteemed crowd one of these days, but not in this thread.

Be careful of meth heads in Kerrville. Luckily it is going the way of Fredericksburg too and has been cleaned up.

Lots of drug rehab places for whatever reason.

Buy a couple bottles of more expensive wine and when they're empty, refill the bottles with 3 buck Chuck.

My cousin is a white woman who designed some kind of special mah jong set and she sold many copies apparently. There was even a big news article about how she was culturally appropriating the Chinese by doing this.

Texas Hill Country wine is not good.

Correct. The best Texas wines come from Lubbock vineyards. Tempranillo from there can be very good. Williams Chris is high quality, and I’m pretentious enough to scoff at California wines.

There are over 11,000 wineries, just in the U.S. and an estimated 500,000 labels around the world (in my best ChatGPT voice).

Enough for one to sip on 4 labels per day for next 350 ish years, of which some questions come to mind:

If one practices the pretentious arts, how many wines / labels must be sampled to discern “good” wine?

How many ‘extra’ pant sizes are necessary (calories in / out) to be statistically significant in this art?

Kidding!

not sure what’s funny, her company is in all 50 states and 16 countries, they’re pushing the product, and they don’t deal in rotgut

ETA: I don’t profess to be a wine expert or sommelier, but my wife most definitely is, they don’t buy it if it doesn’t pass the tests

A good friends"s wife is in the same business as your more attractive half.

She always picks/brings the best wines (by my taste) and she's a fun person also

Most Texas Hill County wines are produced with grapes from the South Plains.

Yep. Not a chance. Those $15-$20 bottles are made to taste just like the stuff that sells for $300. Speaking of, when Criwn Royal was first put on the shelves, it was priced really low as an affordable blended whiskey(puke). But sales were really bad so they tripled the price and it started flying off the shelves. Same shite, 3x as expensive and people were buying it because it was expensive so they thought it must be good and a whiskey for the rich. That goes to show you how marketing works on people.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. I never said I found FBG boring; I said I found the wine tasting excursion boring.
